First of all, IAS is abbreviated as Indian Administrative Services. IPS is abbreviated as Indian Police Services. Both IAS and IPS are the parts of Indian Civil Services. There are total 24 civil services. For all these civil service jobs a common entrance exam is conducted for selection of personnel. The exam is name Civil Service Exam , This exam is conducted by UPSC. UPSC is a constitutional body which will take this responsibility to select eligible persons into responsible positions. The eligibility criterion for writing this examination is -> you have to get 21 years of Minimum age. ->you should be completed your degree of any discipline from a recognized University. Actually after having the above two things you can get registered for IAS exam(Civil Service Exam). Registration for this exam will get started after notification for the same. This notification will get released in Jan/Feb simultaneously you have to apply for the examination. you can get updated about this through many sources like News papers,News channels, like this forums etc., Selecting books depends on the exam for what you want to get prepared i.e., if you want to prepare for CSAT you have to follow different books if you want to concentrate on mains then you have to follow some other books in this way each and every exam will have its own requirements. just follow your mind and some experts guidance. First make up your mind on what you want prepare . We will tell you how. Okay . all the best for everything. Regards |

dear IAS (Indian Administrative Services) officer IPS (Indian Police Services) officer etc… Is all done though the same “UPSC held Civil Services” examination! If you become an IAS officer, you become part of the Indian Administrative Service. You will be part of the Govt. You can work from “the inside” and change “the system”!! preliminary examination there are two papers. General studies Optional Subject FIRSTLY: For this paper, it is very important to be updated in “current affairs” in all fields. For History, Economy, Polity, etc, you should read Class 11 and 12 books published by the NCERT. For general knowledge and objective-type questions, refer to the book “General Knowledge Refresher by O.P. Khanna”.And competition success review. To prepare for the Optional Subject paper If you have got your “bachelor’s” degree in a particular field, and you are confident about that field then choosing that subject as your optional subject would be a good idea. all the best |
