I am doing Mtech from IIT guwahati, Is GRE needed for admission into higher universities for phd?
Is GRE give some benefit like scholarship in phd also?

NO, GRE score is needed only for MS , but still you can show them in context of your ability.

definitely GRE is needed for doing Ph.D. in foreign universities..
the minimum requirements to do Ph.D. in foreign is GRE and TOFEL..
If you have good marks in GRE, the universities will provide scholarship even some universities will cancel your tuition fees...

For ph.D in u.s. and u.s.s.r. GRE is needed..while for other countries GRE is not necessary ..Either by professors reference or by applying for institutions indiviually ..

can u plz mention som foreign institutes dat do not require gre score?

Yes if you clear the GRE then gov. provide you a higher scholarship to countinue you study..
