There is no need to take any specific group in intermediate to become an IAS officer. You can pursue any stream of your interest in your Intermediate. Candidates who have passed Bachelor's degree course in any discipline from a recognised university are eligible to apply for IAS examination. You should be in the age range of 21-32 years and upper age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates as per government rules to appear in IAS examination.

With out any hesitation go for science stream it will enrich your knowledge and skill for future entrance exams, the opportunities available to science background students are more if compared to others. So, if you are really dedicated to be an IAS then start studying accordingly and go through the NCERT books of your class thoroughly this will help while preparing for the IAS exam.

To be an IAS officer in future you can opt for any stream in which you are interested in your intermediate because as per the rules there is no compulsion to choose a specific stream. So it is advisable to you that you can choose any stream in which you are interested. Once you will complete your intermediate you have to complete your degree course in any stream and after that you will have to appear in the UPSC exam.
If still you are confused and you do not have particular interest in any stream then I would like to suggest you to go for Arts stream because in Arts stream you will not have any kind of pressure of studies and there you will get more time to prepare yourself for IAS related studies.
