Re: How can I join Indian Merchant Navy?
Hi,
Merchant navy is a private job whee you have to import and export goods from other countries/to other countries.. Eligibility Criteria:- The minimum eligibility criteria for this job is 12th standard.. And you should have to secure minimum 55% in 12th standard.. Candidates who had taken/studied maths, science subjects in their 12th academics are only applicable for this entrance exam.. Age should be minimum 17 years.. So, my suggestion is you better complete your 12th standard and then apply for this merchant navy post.. There is an entrance exam for this job..You have to get through in that exam.. All the best... |

Re: How can I join Indian Merchant Navy?
There is no gender bias in Merchant Navy. Both Female and Male candidates can apply for the job in Merchant Navy. However you need to have necessary qualification to apply for it.
First you should understand the role of Merchant Navy. It is not here to defend our coastal regions but the role of Merchant Navy is related to trade. More than 90 percent of global trade is done via sea. This is where Merchant Navy comes into picture. If you want a officer level job in Merchant Navy then you should pursue one of the these two courses:- Marine Engineering B.Sc. Nautical Science Eligibility 1. You should have passed 12th standard. 2. Subjects should be Physics, Chemistry and Maths. 3. Only unmarried candidate is eligible. 4. You should be less than 25 years old. 5. Age limit is 30 years for SC/ST. Then there is a possibility of taking Deck Cadet job after 12th standard. But again you should complete 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. After which you can apply for deck cadet and if selected, company will arrange a 3 months long pre sea training for you. Those who have already completed B.Tech in Technology/Electrical/Mechanical need not to be disappointed because they are also eligible. You only have to complete a 9 months long pre sea course in Marine Engineering from MERI. |
