As you want to get into Custom Departments as an Officer (Inspector), you will have to write combined graduate level examination conducted by Staff Selection Commission.
Now, since you are in the final year of your B.Tech program, you will need to qualify the final year examination in order to write the examination. As far as percentage of marks is concerned, you will be considered eligible after qualifying bachelors degree examination irrespective of the marks obtained in the same. But apart from being a graduate, candidate need to be within the age limit of 18-27 years.

In order to become custom officer, you need to apply for indian civil service ecamination conducted every year by UPSC.While filling application for main examination of civil service examination, you can give custom and excise as first preference.After qualifying the main examination, you will be called for an interview. If you qualify the interview sucessfully, you will be given custom officer post. but one thing you should remember that you need to get a good rank arount 100-200 to get your prefered post.

If you are interested in Customs Jobs under Central Excise Department, Than you have to appear in the SSC conducted Combined Graduate Level exams


This exam is held in three stages- that is tier 1, tier 2 and Interview

Education Graduation pass in any stream
No Minimum Percentage is required in Graduation

AGE- Minimum 18 years
Maximum 27 years
AGE Relaxations- 3 years for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates


Next Tier 1 Exam of the SSC Combined Graduate level will be held in May 2014 Notification and advertisement will come out on January 2014



Questions will be asked from the Below Sections in this Exams:
>> General Intelligence and Reasoning
>> General Awareness
>> English Comprehension
>> Quantitative Aptitude
