I m a arts student and want to join merchant navy I want to know how do I go about it?

To become a merchant navy officer, one needs to be atleast 10+2 or a diploma holder...but you must have scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board...............
There will be 2 year course for Diploma Holders and successful completion you will be join merchant in either of departments

• Deck
  
• Engine
  
• Catering

so if you want to go for MERCHANT navy you cannot.........

But you can join navy after graduation...
But not for merchant navy...

After graduation you can apply for SSC or CDS and get into navy..
And always navy is better option than merchant navy...

Sorry friend you can not join merchant navy because for merchant navy you should be a science student passing HSC or equivalent 10+2 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) subjects and having a aggregate percentage of more than 50%.
So arts and commerce student are not eligible for merchant navy which is your case.

Sorry you do not fulfill the eligiblity criteria for merchant navy.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates need to show proof of completing 10+2 system or equivalent, having passed Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as elective subjects. Some of the Qualifying Examinations are as follows: - All India Senior School Certificate Examination of CBSE - Higher Secondary Examination (from any Central/State Board of Secondary Education) - Indian School Certificate Examination of Council of Indian School of Examination

Surely you can look for other options like navy.

Educational qualification: The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics.

He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.

soory to say that you are not eligible to be in merchant navy since the minimum qualification is 10+2 with science stream having at least 60%
but you may try in army after graduation

Hi,

UPSC conducts entrance exam for admission in Merchant navy every year.

For Merchant Navy only those student are eligible who have PCM in 12th and scored minimum 60% marks in 12th board.

I am very sorry to say that you are not eligible for Merchant Navy because you are Arts student.

But don't worry if you really want to join Army service then you can join Army by CDS and SSC exam.these exam are for admission in Army which is also better.

Qualification required for these exam are you have passed graduation.

dear friend,
i am sorry to say you that you can not go to merchant navy because of the following reasons::::--
merchant navy is joined by those candidate whose %age in pcm is more than 60%.
means he must be a student of science group. as you are a arts group student so i will say you can not join the merchant navy.

secondly , a diploma holder can also join the merchant navy in catering, deck etc.
but you can join the indian navy after your graduation

Very well you can join Merchant Navy after 12th standard with Arts for the following.

To join Merchant Navy You have do Pre-Sea (Panama) and Pre-Sea (Liberian) courses.

The qualification required for above mentioned courses is class 12th with
40 % aggregate.

You can’t join the merchant Navy to join Merchant Navy it is very necessary that you should be a science student.

After passing 12th with PCM student can apply for Merchant Navy.
