I want to know how to work in the field of merchant navy with minimum
qualification.
I completed my +2 in the stream of Arts.Please feel free to send me

the minimum qualification is 10+2 pass with physics, chemistry and maths.

I am very sorry to tell that merchant navy is meant for those students who had completed his 10+2 from the science stream(PCM).but as you are from the arts side so you can choose some other field or completed your 12th again from the science subjects.

As an ARTS student you can not apply for Merchant Navy. Only science students with physics, chemistry and mathematics can apply for the Merchant Navy for this level.
However you can apply for different post in Navy after completing the graduation from any authorized university.

Dear friend,

The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

you are eligible for the merchant navy since you should have PCM in your 12th.
if you are really interested to join the merchant navy then you should pass 12th privately with PCM.

In merchant navy there are mainly two types of officers :-
1) Deck/Navigation Officer who is in charge of the navigation of the ship.
2) Engineering Officers who are responsible for the ships engineering functions like boilers, pumps, hydraulic, fuel systems etc.
After doing your 12th you need to undergo pre-sea training.

Courses available for 10+2 students :-
1) 3 year degree course in Nautical Science. You can persue it from Vels Academy of Maritime Education & Training (Chennai),TS Chanakya , Southern Academy of Maritime Studies (Chennai) etc.
2) 4 year degree course in Marine Engineering. You can persue it from Vels Academy of Maritime Education & Training (Chennai),Tolani Maritime Institute (Mumbai), MERI etc.
3) 3 month course for Deck Cadets.
You also can join as utility hand or Petty Officers (Fitters) after completing 4 Basic Courses, i.e. FPFF, EFA, PSSR and PST.

The eligibility for goinh into Merchant Navy after 12th is having physics/chemistry/math in your subjects.

Being from an arts background you cant apply for his career..

HIIIIIIIIII friend it is not possible to join merchant navy with 12th class art stream you might have wrong information kindly make it sure because students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) are eligible to join as Deck Cadets in merchant navy and a student holding a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology Engineering could also join the Merchant navy as a Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer.

Msr praveen, i am sory to tell you that you have submit a wrong post here. Arts and Commerce students are also eligible to join Merchant Navy as G P Rating.

Arts and Commerce students are eligible to join Merchant Navy as G. P Rating i.e genral purpose rating. The minimum eligiblity criteria for this course is to be tenth passout. Many private institution provide G P Rating course twice in a year and conduct seperate test for admission. G P Rating is a 6 month course.

Absolutely you CAN join MERCHAN NAVY. You can join by joining G P Rating(General Purpose Rating) Course which is a six months course condected by various government and private Marine Institutions.

Minimum educational quslification for this examination is to be Tenth passout with minimum 50% marks in EMS (English Mathematics and Science). Various Institutitions conduct aptitute examination seperately.

Age eligiblity to appear for this course is to be16 1/2 to 18 years on the date of commecement of course.

1. The captain.
2. Second officer
3. Third officer and other posts that make up the deck workforce

For 10+2 students there are the following courses available.

To become a merchant navy you must study Bsc nautical science in college.

But according to eligibility conditions of Bsc nautical science course you must be

a science student in 12th standard with physics, chemistry and maths as your

subject. So you are not eligible for becoming a merchant navy.

i am a art student .can i apply for navy

there are some private academies offering deck cadets course for arts and commerce students. Sea horse Academy Kakinada is one of them. Can anybody pls. tell me how is that possible if everyone says science is compulsory for joining merchant navy... Pls help me to take adecision as i am planning to go for it. they are providing 3 months pre sea training followed by 18 months on board training

As your a commerce student you cannot so through exams like NDA and CDS but there are job opportunities for you in Indian Navy like you can go through SSB board.Its better that you go through NCC course which will benefit you in the Entrance exam like SSB board.

You can even go through the Officer's Academy and other such exams.You can visit the official website to get all the information

SSB is of fourteen year service but you can extend your service if you need to.

I am sorry to say that after passing the 12th with arts stream you are not eligible for Merchant Navy..

The candidate who pass the 12th class with Physics, Maths and Chemistry are eligible for Merchant Navy..

you can join as technical engineer in merchant navy.
for it,you have to apply.then they will take written test.you have to pass it.
If you pass it,then they will take your personal interview.you have to pass it also.
then you are called for medical test.
if you satisfy all condition of merchant navy,then you can get job as a mechanical engineer in Merchant navy.
