How can i get admission in Mtech? without giving gate exam?is it compulsory?

In order to get admission in goverment colages, IITs, NITs and various high grade autonomus institutes for MTec coarse it is compulsory to give GATE(Graduate Aptitute Test for Engineering). Allthough some private colages offer seat for MTec or ME on the basis of your graduation agrigate score. Some of them are.
