How to get in merchant navy after 12th...pelase send to me the details

One can join Merchant Navy at entry level in either Navigational department or Marine engineering. One can join Merchant Navy as Deck cadet after doing Bachelor's degree in nautical science and as Junior Engineer after doing marine engineering .

The eligibility criteria to join Merchant Navy are as under:-

-The candidate should have passed 10+2 class or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board.

-The age limit to apply is 16 years to 25 years.

-Candidates should be physically and Mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard norms

-Only unmarried male and female candidate can apply for Merchant Navy.

The candidate height should not be less than 150 cm to become eligible for entry in Merchant Navy .

The weight should not be below than 42 kg and the chest should expand upto a minimum range of 5 cm.

The candidate should have vision of 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately and should not suffer from Color Blindness defect.

-The exam is conducted in different stages.These are;

*Written Exam.

*Physical Test

* Medical Test

*Personality Interview.

After completing higher secondary, there are generally three options to join merchant navy course

1)B.SC in nautical science, nautical science is a specialized course for merchant navy, a three year bachelor degree undergraduate course to join merchant navy. The basic criteria required to study nautical science is to have scored minimum 70% marks in physics, chemistry and maths in intermediate.

2)B.TECH in marine engineering is another course to study for merchant navy, after completing intermediate with physics, chemistry and mathematics and scoring a good rank in engineering entrance exam, as to attempt for entrance exam is compulsory for marine engineering unlike nautical science.

3)Mechanical engineering course, another engineering course to study merchant navy after intermediate. After doing several diploma courses after completing mechanical engineering, one can join merchant navy in a in-direct way.

Mechanical engineering is indirect entry in merchant navy, whereas both nautical and marine engineering are direct entry and both are considered best option to study to join merchant navy.
