Re: How to be an IAS officer after passing 12th?
First you should get the priority right. If you are applying for IIT then keep the focus on it. If you makes the cut then I doubt whether you will still be interested in Civil Services Examination considering the fact that IIT students are offered well paid jobs.
However if you are still interested the procedure will remain the same which I will be mentioning below. In case you fail to make the cut, still you will be required to continue with the studies. It is not possible to apply for IAS without a graduation degree. So the decision you need to make will be which course to pursue. B.Tech will be good option even if you fail to make the cut into IIT. Once you have completed any graduation course, it will be possible to apply for the Civil Services Examination. You will have to spend good 6-9 months preparing for it. It is not easy to crack the Civil Services Examination. Eligibility 1. Nationality: UPSC will be allow Indian to appear for the exam. 2. Qualification: Any graduation degree is fine. 3. Marks: There is no criteria. 4. Age: 21 on the lower side and 30 on the higher side is age limit. 5. Relaxation: 3 years for the OBC and 5 years for SC/ST. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview Attempts 1. General: Only 4 attempts are given. 2. OBC: 7 is the limit. 3. SC/ST: There is no cap. |

Re: How to be an IAS officer after passing 12th?
You have to complete Graduation then only you will become eligible for IAS examination.
So take admission into a good college and start your preparation for IAS examination as soon as possible. The age required for IAS exam is 21 to 30 years if you are a General category candidate but if you are SC/ST category then you will get 5 years age relaxation and for OBC Category 3 years age relaxation is available. The selection will be based on the following stages of exam: -Preliminary Exam- Objective type paper of General studies and Aptitude Test. -Mains Exam - Descriptive Type Paper of General Studies and optional subjects. -Interview The marks obtained in the above stages will decide the merit for selection into various administrative services. Number of Attempts: General Category - 4 attempts OBC Category - 7 attempts SC/ST Category - No Limit So get yourself prepared for the IAS exam because the syllabus for this exam is very vast and you never know from where the question will be asked in General studies. Re: How to be an IAS officer after passing 12th?
Dear Friend
I am very sad to inform you that 12th passed candidates are not allowed to become IAS officer as the minimum academic qualifications required to become IAS officer is bachelor's degree in any stream form a recognised university. So since you are only 10+2 passed ,hence it is not possible for you to become IAS officer. I would like to tell you that the 1st step is that you should complete bachelor's degree in your desired stream.During your final year of graduation ,you can apply for the civil services examinations . After that you should fulfill the age limitations that is you should be between 21-30 years.IF you are from pbc or sc/st,your upper age will be relaxed to 33 years and 35 years. You must be an Indian citizen. You should start your preparation form the very first year of graduation as the examination is very tough and you may also join the given below coaching centers for the better preparation: 1.Rao's IAS academy 2.Chanakya's IAS academy 3.Career point 4.Vajiram and Ravi IAS academy. Let me aware you about the examination pattern of civil services examination that is it contains of three stages : 1.Civil services aptitude test 2.Main examination 3.Personal interview For any further details and any other query ,please visit www.upsc.gov.in Hope the information helps you. all the best |
