Re: How to join Aeronautical engineering for 2nd year Diploma student of Electrical and Electronics student?
It is generally not recommended to change the branch of Engineering from diploma to graduation course. Sometimes students face difficulty coping with the course. But if you really want to do Aeronautical Engineering then there are two ways to go forward.
First is the lateral entry admission. You can directly take admission in the second year of Bachelor of Technology. This is called lateral entry admission which is granted to the diploma holders. Apart from diploma holders, B.Sc graduates can also take advantage of it. Now to take admission through lateral entry, you must appear for the entrance exam. Lateral Entry Engineering Test is the most common exam. To appear you should have 60 percent marks in diploma course. There are other options as well. Some colleges conducts their separate entrance exams while direct admission on the merit is also given. The second way is to appear for entrance exam. Joint Entrance Exam is what I am talking about. The disadvantage is that there is no lateral entry admission through it. While the advantage is that you can take admission in Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology. This otherwise is not possible with lateral entry because both these institutes do not offer admission through lateral entry. JEE Eligibility 1. Candidate should have passed 12th standard. 2. Subjects in 12th should be Physics, Chemistry and Maths. 3. 3-4 years diploma in Engineering also makes you eligible for this exam. 4. There is no percentage criteria. 5. You should be less than 25 years old for this exam. 6. SC/ST get 5 years relaxation in age limit. There are two stages of the Joint Entrance Exam. First is JEE Mains which is for All India quota while JEE Advanced is for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology. |
