You can join defense by qualifying CDS exam. UPSC has recently invited applications from engineering graduates for Officer positions in defense. Air force and naval academy offer well paid jobs for engineers. Applications can be forwarded through UPSC portal. Written test and personnel interview are conducted for selection process.
