You can join merchant navy after your 12th class with science as your main subjects. You can join for the 3 year graduation course in nautical science. You can also go in for the marine engineering course after 12th class. You can also join for a 3 month course for Deck cadets. Select the option that suits you.

you have two options available.

One is to join after your 12th standard and the other after engineering. If you wish to join after 12th standard then you must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics mainly.

Also if you have completed 17 years then you can appear for the entrance exams conducted by the institute like DG Shipping etc. If you clear the exam you will clear the personal interview round next. Finally you need to clear the physical fitness test too. Thereafter you will need to undergo 9 months of pre sea training to finally join as a deck cadet.


If you wish to join after engineering then preferably you should have chosen marine engineering as the stream. You also can join after pursuing mechanical engineering too. But you will need to undergo training for 1 year before you be eligible for joining the stream.
