iam really intrested in doing merchant navy after my plus two education. I don't know what to do for joining that. Sir if help me to join merchant navy course in government colleges. Plz

How to join Merchant Navy
after passing 12th?

Whether you can join Merchant Navy or not depends on the subjects you selected for Class 12th. If the subjects selected were the Physics, Chemistry and Maths, only then you are eligible for Merchant Navy.

Otherwise you can not apply in Merchant Navy, hence look for some other career option.

After 12th you have two options. You can directly apply for the job now or the second option is after completing graduation.

The job you can apply for right now is deck cadet, while after completing graduation you can apply for the officer level technical jobs. In my opinion second option is better as it will offer better salary and additional perks.


Eligibility

1. 12th must be finished with PCM.

2. Only unmarried candidates are selected.

3. The age limit is 20 years.

4. Upto 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

5. Must pass a medical test.


If you can meet this criteria then either apply for the B.Sc Nautical Science or the Marine Engineering course. After finishing any of the two courses, you can apply for the job in Merchant Navy.

Apart from the above courses you can also complete B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Technology to get job in merchant navy. To complete these courses from government colleges you will have to appear for the ISEET entrance exam. Rest will depend on your performance in the entrance exam.

However after passing the Mechanical/Electrical/Technology degree you will have to undergo through 9 months long pre sea course in Marine Engineering from MERI.
