your aim and work will not suit for success because getting a good rank in IAS with work is practically impossible that what you have stated 8-9 hours job it will be a very hectic work if you take up preparation now As far as upto my thinking levels it is better to continue your work for at least one more odd year and get settled financially in a good position then no need to worry if you resign your job also get that position and then start your preparation by keeping your body and soul for the divine cause The general preparation tips to taste the success are Preparation for IAS can be done in different way according to the tastes and preference of the individual each and every individual will have different methods and techniques to achieve their respective goals.. but very important fact is all the plans will have the following main qualities.. -> You should strongly determine towards your goal.. -> You should be well aware of what the syllabus and pattern.. -> You should also be hard working and also a smart planner of the preparation.. -> you should make smart plans according to the time available for the exam So think up on my suggestion if you like it follow or else ignore it .. this what i feel .. Re: How to prepare for the IAS entrance exam while working in an MNC?
Its surely a difficult thing to prepare for IAS exam while doing a job.
Because IAS needs good preparation to crack the exam. Any way, from this academic year, IAS pattern has slightly changed. It will be -CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview. So, you should be good enough in general awareness and in aptitude to crack the exam. It might be easy. But as a part of main examination, it might be difficult for you. So, better to continue in your job itself. If possible, go through some value added certification programs which will be helpful for you to promote to higher level. |

Re: How to prepare for the IAS entrance exam while working in an MNC?
After 8-9 hours of work you will be definitely get tired and will be having less time to spare for the preparation part of the CSAT Examination.
For now it will be better that you continue with the job.You can go through the self study procedure by going through the CSAT Preliminary Syllabus and if having a clear view about the examination. As you know the test comprises of three stages and you need to cross Stages like Prelims,Mains,Interview to see your self as an IAS Officer. For the preliminary part you can prepare History and Civics,Geography books of NCERT,Goyal Brothers of Class 9th and 10th of both ICSE and CBSE. Recently a website has been opened which provides you training through postal courses. You can receive important material regarding all the stages of the CSAT examination.I think it will be a better option for you since you lack time.Go through the following if your interested in it. UPSC Mantra-click here Well postal courses alone will need lead you to success but you even need to do some hard work if you want to go through the examination with good marks. Higher studies may not help you for the CSAT examination but will help you to find a better job in your stream.Go through the notification part where details about syllabus and different stages are clearly mentioned. |

Re: How to prepare for the IAS entrance exam while working in an MNC?
As you might be very well aware of that civil service requires lot of hard work and time.
Since you are working with MNC, you have long working hours. If possible enroll in some good coaching as you cannt give full time for preparation or its better to take leave & prepare for 6 months with full devotion. |
