Yeah you are eligible for IPS exam sorry not IPS exam it is actually called UPSC Civil Service Examination. which is the combined recruitment exam for different civil services like IAS/IPS/IFS etc., now what you need to know is the basic eligibility criteria and examination pattern and preparation procedure this I'm going to say you now.. have a keen look upon it. ->You should minimum have a degree from any discipline. ->You should have minimum age of 21 years. Examination pattern is of three level ->Level 1 prelims Now it is CSAT ->Level 2 Mains ->Level 3 Personal interview. you have to clear all the levels of the selection procedure then only you are eligible for the examination. Next coming to preparation procedure as your branch doesn't have optional in the List of UPSC you have to select any other subjects of two in which you are interested. and concentrated ly you have to prepare for the examination and if needed you have to take coaching for the optional subjects or general studies. be wise while planning for your preparation all the best Regards ~AdityA~ |

Re: How should I become an IPS officer after doing IT?
In fact IPS is one of the category provided as per the performance in UPSC exams...starting from the top IAS->IRS->IFS->IPS...
Whether you want to be an IPS or IAS or anyother you must have to prepare for UPSC exams conducted every year... Since last year pattern has changed...There are 3 rounds to be qualified step by step. 1) CSAT exam(Logical approach, mathematical solving skills,Reasoning,General study,Current affairs) . It consists of two paper..each of 300 marks. There is Negative marking in this. 2)Mains exam:- It consists of two papers and Essay writing(one optional chosen by you another is General Studies).Essay is asked on current social issues either in HINDI or ENGLISH. There is negative marking in two papers. Note that IT's subject are still not included in CIVIL exams so you will have to select one out of your current stream . I suggest one to select any subject of his interest provided one get mould into it freely. 3)Interview under pannel The merit is prepared based on the marks attained by a candidate in 2nd and 3rd round in totality. Normally if one could sustain 50% in all he is assured to get qualified in this exam.... If you are keen for being IPS i would suggest you to prepare right now.. "BETTER LATE THAN NEVER" All the Best... |

Second step is Mains Examination which consist of two GS papers, two optional subjects, essay paper, language paper, english paper etc. Third step. once you qualify mains on the basis of marks of mains you will be called for Interview and the marks of interview added with rest of mains marks to calculate final score to publish ranks. Eligibility Bachelor degree from any Govt of India recognized university. AGE:GEN-21-30, OBC-relaxation of 3 years, SC/ST-relaxation of 5 years. Re: How should I become an IPS officer after doing IT?
There is no rule stipulated like only candidates of particular are eligible to apply for IPS like that.
Irrespective of their stream or background, all the candidates are eligible to apply for IPS Exam but the thing is the candidate should have completed the Graduation. You just mentioned that you are from IT background. I don't the highest academic qualification that you have. If you are a Graduate, then you are eligible to apply for IPS. In order to get into IPS or any other civil services like IAS IFS IRs, one should have to crack the civil services exam which is being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. Various rounds of selection procedure will be CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) Civil Services Main Exam Interview You have to choose the optional subject at the time of applying for this exam. Your Main exam will be only on the optional subject that you have opted for. My suggestion would be to choose the optional subject in accordance with your stream in Graduation. So that you can understand the subject easily and there is a scope to crcak the exam easily. Here is the eligibility criteria required 21-30 years for General category 21-33 years for OBC category 21-35 years for SC or ST category. There is limit on number of attempts also which will be Maximum of 4 times for General category Maximum of 7 times for OBC category No limit for the candidates of SC or ST category. If you have completed your Graduation, then I suggest you to have good preparation for this exam and crack it. Wish you all the best. |
