No,you cannot join merchant navy as the age limit is now twenty five to join pre sea courses.For more details you can visit-

Hi,

The upper ag limit is 25 years. But if you are an SC/ST candidate then you can get 5 years relaxation that is upto 30 years.
So in my opinion you will not be eligible for merchant navy.

to become a merchant navy,you are a mechanical engineer,it is so easy for you.you can join graduate mechanical engineering(GRE) course in an college,the duration of couse is one year.to join GRE a canditate should complete his graduation in mechanical engineering.

Indian navy is a good defence service.
The educational qualification is that the candidate must pass Diloma in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical etc or 12th with PCM subkject
For indian navy the age criteria are as the candidate must be between 18-21 years of unmarried male candidates can apply .
You are not eligible for indian navy as your age is 23
