Hello i secured 48 in GATE-2011, my score is 573 and my AIR is 2666. so can i expect ny IIT or NIT or any good college? 10th, 12th and BE score is taken into consideration or not?

assuming your AIR rank , it seems there are rare chances to get in IITs or NIt except you are category candidate.
please specify your branch , category.
IITs and NITs consider only GATE score and interview marks if applicable. 10 th , 12th std marks are not considered. minimum bachelor degree marks are required as a eligibility criteria in some IITs and NITs

NO ,in gate admission they don't see your 10 and 12th marks .they only consider your GATE score.

as you have score 48 so iam sure that there are many IITs and NITs in which you can get
admission depending upon your branch .

if you have got an rank of 2666 then surely there is very less chance for you to get admission in the iits and if you are an general student then even the admission in the nits may be in doubt

at this score(48) you will get admission in nit and iit both .but not geeting good branch in iit,or not getting good nit with good branch..

also 10th ,12th and BE marks are not the criteria for admission in nit or iit m.tech except some special cases(iit kanpur)..

according to ur score u can get iit or nit....doesnt matter hw much u got 4 the 10th 12th and BE Since u r eligible 4 GATE exam so definitely u can get iit or nit like college.

In gate question paper are how much marks ,and how much marks are required for appering for IIT?

GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is the All India entrance which is conducted by the IIT's every year to select candidates for the various M.Tech programs in the IIT's, NIT's and other colleges.


So based on the GATE scores and AIR's, the students are allotted seats in M.Tech programs in the IIt's, NIT's or other good technical colleges across the Nation.


Coming to your case, I would say that you have do a good job. Your GATE score is good enough. Your All India Ranking is though not up to the mark to get you a seat in any of the IIT's.

If you are lucky, you may get seats in some of the remote NIT's in India, but there also you might not get a course of your choice.


I must also inform you that in GATE 10th and 12th marks are not considered as such in normal or general scenarios.

However CAT considers these scores as well i.e for the MBA.


So do not worry, you would surely get a seat in some good technical colleges for the M.Tech courses which you desire to take up.
