Dear Friend

Lots of engineering candidates from streams other than civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and communications engineering are confused that they are not eligible for the Indian Engineering Services.

But let me tell you that candidates from any branch/stream/discipline of engineering/technology are eligible for the IES exams.

There is little confusion over the Indian Engineering Service exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. However the answer to your question is pretty simple.

Unfortunately you are not eligible for the Indian Engineering Service. Computers Science Engineers are not eligible for it. The eligibility criteria says B.Tech degree but it should be completed in the following streams:

Civil

Mechanical

Electrical

Eletronics and Communications

Since you have not completed the B.Tech in any of the above streams, you are not eligible for the Indian Engineering Service. IES is very reputed entrance exam. The selected candidates are given jobs in various government departments. Some example are:

Indian Defence Service of Engineers

Central Engineering Service

Indian Supply Service (Directorate General of Supply and Disposals)

Central Water Engineering

Indian Railway Stores Service

Indian Ordnance Factories Service

I will recommend you to apply for job in Public Sector Undertaking instead of Indian Engineering Service.

Eligibility

1. Apart from Indian citizen, a citizen of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan is also eligible for this entrance exam.

2. Candidate with valid B.Tech degree is eligible.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. You should be 21 to 30 years as on August 1 of examination year to apply.

5. The relaxation is 3 years (OBC) and 5 years (SC/ST).

Being B.tech (CSE) candidate your not applicable for IES Entrance Examination ..

Because Only the candidate who Completed B.tech Course in any one of the Specialization like, Civil , Mechanical , Electrical Electronics and Communications are applicable for this IES Entrance Examination ..

So, per the eligibility criteria your not applicable for this Entrance Examination ..

IES stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination .. It 's One of the Engineering Entrance Examination which is organized by Union Public Service Commission for every year ..

Criteria for this IES Entrance Examination :-

One should Completed Engineering (B.Tech/B.E) in any one of the Specialization like , Civil , Mechanical , Electrical Electronics and Communications from recognized university ..

One should be Physically as well as Medically Fit ..

So, your educational qualification your not applicable for IES Entrance Examination ...

Suggestion ~~

If your aspiring to achieve good position in your life ,, then I suggest you to apply for Civil Service Examinations like, IAS ( Indian Administrative Service ) ,IPS ( Indian Police Service ) Etc.....

Engineering Services Examination is conducted by UPSC for selected Engineering disciplines.

Sorry Computer Science Engineering Graduates are not eligible for IES Examination.

Only following Engineering disciplines Graduate can apply for Engineering Services Examination:

-Civil Engineering

-Mechanical Engineering

-Electronics and Communication Engineering

-Electricals Engineering

Hence you can go for other options like private jobs in software companies or some other government jobs.

You will be eligible for IAS examination if you want a Government Officer post.

The age limit for IAS Examination is 21 to 30 years. If you are SC/ST, OBC category then you will get age relaxation.

The selection is purely based on the merit and the marks obtained in the examination will be very crucial.

There will be preliminary stage ,Mains and Interview. Marks in these will decide whether you will be selected or not.
