Re: Details about IES entrance exam? I am a CSE student
There is little confusion over the Indian Engineering Service exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. However the answer to your question is pretty simple.
Unfortunately you are not eligible for the Indian Engineering Service. Computers Science Engineers are not eligible for it. The eligibility criteria says B.Tech degree but it should be completed in the following streams: Civil Mechanical Electrical Eletronics and Communications Since you have not completed the B.Tech in any of the above streams, you are not eligible for the Indian Engineering Service. IES is very reputed entrance exam. The selected candidates are given jobs in various government departments. Some example are: Indian Defence Service of Engineers Central Engineering Service Indian Supply Service (Directorate General of Supply and Disposals) Central Water Engineering Indian Railway Stores Service Indian Ordnance Factories Service I will recommend you to apply for job in Public Sector Undertaking instead of Indian Engineering Service. Eligibility 1. Apart from Indian citizen, a citizen of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan is also eligible for this entrance exam. 2. Candidate with valid B.Tech degree is eligible. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. You should be 21 to 30 years as on August 1 of examination year to apply. 5. The relaxation is 3 years (OBC) and 5 years (SC/ST). |
