You must qualify civil services examination to become an IPS Officer. Prelims and main exam is conducted for selection process. General knowledge, General aptitude, Indian Polity, Indian Constitution, history, Geography, etc are asked for prelims exam. In mains, there will be questions on general studies, English language, and optional subjects. Detailed syllabus can be collected from UPSC portal. A Modern Approach to Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning by RS Agarwal, General Science by G K Puri, Analytical Reasoning by MK Pandey, etc are some of the books that can be referred for studies.
