Hello friend,
The minnimum educational qualification for writing IES examination is a degree in engineering from a recognised university. Therefore, M.E. with or without M.C.A. does make the candidate eligible to appear for IES Exam.
IES examination is conducted by UPSC for all four categories of engineering for its respective degree/diploma holder i.e. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering and Electronics and Telecommunication engineering.
The syllabus for the examination consists of two objective papers and two conventional papers of the main stream with one paper of general abilities. A total of 1000 marks is distributed equally among all the papers i.e. 200 each.
The duration for general ability and objective papers is 2 hours each and for conventional papers is 3 hors each.

yes, M.E will be eligible but according to them you are over qualified....actually they are asking only B.E students but you finished pg so you are eligible for IES. And mca is not eligible because only students of eee, ece, mech, and civil has the chance to apply for the post of indian engineering service...

MCA with B.Sc. (Computer Science) background is equivalent to ME (Computer Science and Engineering).

B.Sc. Computer Science (3 Yrs) MCA (3 Yrs) = 6 Yrs.

BE Computer Science (4 Yrs) ME (2Yrs) = 6 Yrs.

MCA and ME both are equal.

Companies are giving equal priority to both MCA and ME.
