1.Results of qualified candidates in GATE 2012 will get All India Rank and percentile score. For, example a percentile score of 99 % means you are in the top 1% category of the candidates who appeared for GATE.

2.Candidates who get less than 70 percentile get no score card.

GATE stands for GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST IN ENGINEERING .
GATE exam is conducted ny IIT`S.
To apply for GATE exam you need to be Graduate (or) Final year of Graduation.
There is no limit for GATE exam you can apply any number of times.
In Gate exam all the questions are objective type.
Gate question paper consists of 65 questions.
There is negative marking in GATE exam .
Maximum marks is 100 and if you score more than 65 then you have change to get seat in IIT`S.
Its not easy to crack GATE exam with out coching so take good coching and crack the exam.

General Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) is one of the many entrance exams for candidates who wish to pursue post graduation course in Engineering called M.Tech. No matter you are applying for M.Tech in Aerospace or any other branch, it is necessary to appear in one of the entrance exams to get admission in the college.

The general belief is that GATE is the only entrance exam for M.Tech course. It is not accurate since there are several other exams like:

TANCET

BITCAT

VITEEE

PTU CET

However one thing that can be said without any doubt is that General Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) is the most popular of all entrance exams for M.Tech course. There are two prime reasons for that.

The top Engineering institutes in India, IITs, accept the GATE score for admission. Therefore candidates who aspires to pursue M.Tech from IIT are required to appear in GATE entrance exam.

Secondly the Public Sector Undertaking gives preference to the GATE score when selecting candidate for the job. Candidate who has performed extremely well in the GATE would be called for direct interview instead of appearing in written test.


Exam Pattern


There are total of 65 questions of 100 marks in the General Aptitude Test for Engineering.

General Aptitude - 10 Questions - 15 Marks

Engineering Mathematics - 11 Questions - 15 Marks

Your Engineering Subject - - 44 Questions - 70 Marks


Qualifying Marks

General - 25 Marks

OBC - 22.5

SC/ST/PD - 16.67

Please note that the qualifying marks can change on the yearly basis. The figure provided above is for GATE 2012 exam.

GATE is know as Graduation Aptitude Test For Engineering which is an entrance exam for getting seat in M-TECH in IIT'S and other top colleges all over INDIA.

Please note there is no such qualifying marks fixed for the examination.
Every year the qualifying mark varies according to number of students qualifying and the top marks.

There is reservation quota provided by the government for various backward class students so some of the seats are reserved for them.
If you want to get seat in the reputed institution you need to score above 80% of marks in the GATE exam.

ELIGIBILITY AS PER THE NEW GUIDELINES:
* Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering or Technology or Architecture and those who are in the final year of such programmes that is you must complete your course.

*Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

*Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

*Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

*Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC or AICTE.

AND Pre Final year students are not allowed to write the exam.

how many marks required to get the 70 percentile in gate for general category

i will score 23 according to madeeasy ans key and i belong to sc category what are my chances in ntpc or mtech from good college pls do suggest.....

well i got 11 two marks questions and 9 one mark questions from 37 questions attempted from 65 questions in gate 2013. so will i qualify since i am from general category? Please tell me quickly.

General Aptitude sections will include 10 questions and total marks for this section will be 15.General Aptitude section will include questions from :

Facts about GATE Score :

• GATE Score card will be valid for two years after declaration of results of particular year.
• Maximum percentile awarded to appearing candidates is from 0 to 1000.

GATE Score structure :

• 800 to 1000 - Outstanding.
• 675 to 800 - Excellent.
• 550 to 675 - Very Good.
• 425 to 550 - Good.
• 300 to 425 - Above Average.
• 100 to 300 - Average.
• Below 100 - Below Average.

The minimum cutoff of marks varies from year to year based on the number of seat available and number of students appeared in the exam.So from previous results the expected marks to appear in the GATE exam for different catageries as follow.

There is a formula for calculate for GATE Qualification marks.

GATE Score:

S = Sq+(St-Sq)M-Mq/Mt-Mq

S = GATE Score of candidates

M = Marks obtained by a candidate in a paper

Mt = Avg marks of top 0.1% of candidates in the paper

Mq = Qualifying marks for general category candidates in the paper

Sq = GATE score assigned to Mq

St = GATE score assigned to Mt

So if please use this formula for knowing your qualification marks.
