There is no separate exam for IAS. But instead, there is a single exam which will let the candidates to be placed in various civil services which is civil services exam being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) ever year.
The selection procedure to become IAS is by -CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test0 -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview. Here is the eligibility criteria that a candidate need to have in order to be eligible for CSAT Exam. Academic Qualification : -One should have completed graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. There is no percentage criteria for the candidates in Graduation to be eligible for this exam. -Candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Graduation and waiting for the results can also apply for this exam. Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam. -Relaxations is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category. If you fulfill this eligibility criteria, have good preparation to this exam and crack the exam. IAS- INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE exam conducted through Civil Service Examination by UPSC every year for the post of various top Govt. job in India. The selection of Civil Services exam is conducted in three phases:-
Preliminary Exam which is called CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude Test) Main Exam Personal Interview The upcoming Civil Service Examination is on 20.05.2012 One should be at lest a graduation degree holder in any discipline from recognised university is eligible to appear for this exam. IAS (Indian Administrative Services) is basically for those who are firmly determined for dedication of themselves towards the own country. If you are so interested for IAS,after being Engineers, Doctors, or Ph.d you can sit IAS exam conducted by UPSC. Application forms will come out in the month of January. According to the new exam pattern of the IAS exam 1) General-Studies paper which carries 150 marks 2) Optional paper which carries 150 marks. Eligibility Criteria :- 1.Educational Qualification:To appear in IAS exam you should have a Graduation degree in any stream from a recognize University. If you are in final year you can also eligible to apply for the examination. 2.Age:The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of appearing of this examination. The age relaxation is also applicable for the candidates belong to reservation category. No.Of Attemptes: General Candidates - 4 Attempts OBC Candidates - 7 Attempts SC/ST Candidates - No Limits. Indian Administration Service exam is part of Civil service exam.If you fulfill with Civil service exam,then you are eligible for Indian Administration Service exam.
The Civil service exam is conducted by UPSC every year once.This exam consist of three exams >>Preliminary Exam >>Main Exam >>Interview If you clear Preliminary exam,then only you can appear for Main Exam.After clearing Main,you have to attend Interview,if you clear this also exam with marks,then you become a IAS Officer. Details for 2012 IAS exam.
There is no cut off marks in graduation to apply for IPS/IAS exam . IPS/IAS exam is carried out by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and constitutes two stages: *Preliminary Examination *It comprises of multiple choice questions and is also a qualifying exam for appearing into second exam. *The Main Examination. *It comprises a written exam and an interview. Eligibility: Education: *A bachelors degree in any field and from any university . Age Limit: *It is between 21 to 30 for general candidate . *And there is age relaxation for reserved category . *Number of attempts: General -4 OBc-7 Sc/St-no limit. Some important points from my side: *For selection in this exam you need to command in G.K . *It will be better that you start your preparation from the start of the graduation degree. *Also you can join some good coaching institute for guidance . |

Dear pal,
the vacancies in the IAS posts available all over the country is filled by the union public service commission. The minimum qualification required for appearing in the exam are 1. A bachelor degree from a recognised university. Both three year and four year course degree holders are eligible. 2. Final year degree aspirants are eligible 3. There is restriction on the number of attempts the general aspirant can make 4 attempts within a maximum age of 30. For obc and bc aspirants can make 7 attempts. Sc and st aspirants can make many attempts within 35 years of age. The different stages in the exam are common aptitude exam main exam personnel interview the aspirant is considered to have attempted the exam even if unable to clear the aptitude exam. For the main exam the aspirant can choose subjects as per degree discipline. If you are really interested then you can start preparation from the pre final year. |

Academic Qualification : The candidate must be graduate from any university. Age Limit : For General :21 to 30 years. IAS can be expanded as Indian Administrative Service. The IAS officers will be Central Government Employees in Administrative Side. For becoming an IAS officer and getting to this respectable position you must appear and clear an exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission of India Commonly called as UPSC. For appearing in this exam you need to have some eligibility criteria. They are You must be citizen of India. Your age must be above 21years and below 30years. There are relaxations upto 33 years for OBC category candidates and upto 35years for SC/ST category candidates. You must have finished your graduation of any discipline from any recognized university of India. You can attempt for this exam for only 4 times and if you are OBC candidate you have 7 times and for SC/ST category candidates have no limit in attempting the exam best of luck.................. |

no. of attempts for general=4 and that of obc is 10 no. of attempts for sc is upto 35 years last date=5 march application fee for general/obc=rs 50 application fee for sc/women/PH=rs 0 |

To become an IAS officer you will have to give civil service exam which is conduct every year by UPSC. To apply for IAS you must have graduate degree in any stream from recognised university. Age should be minimum 21 and maximum 30 years for general categories. Relaxation for obc is 3 year and for sc/st is 5 year. In IAS exam only four attempts for general,for obc 7 attempts and no limit for sc/st. Fee for general candidate is Rs. 100 only. No fee for sc/st/pd. |
