What is the minimum qualification ot become an IAS officer?

For appearing in the Civil Services, candidate should be Indian and must possess a graduation degree in Mathematics, statistics, Geology, natural science, civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, economics, Chemical Engineering. There are three stage qualification process. Students opt for intensive coaching program. Coaching institutes offer courses like i) UPSC Mains -Quality Enrichment Program (QEP), PSI/STI/Assistant exam courses. Another good coaching institute is Vision IAS Study which prepares the candidates for Civil Services Examination at all the 3 levels-Preliminary Test, Main Examination and Personality Test. For eligibility part, aspirant’s age limit should be between 19 to 40 years. Relaxation is also given for SC/ST candidates of 2 years as per the government norms.

IAS means indian administrative services,it is one of the most reputed and powerfull job in India.
It comes under civil services and the selected condidates will have to work for the indian govt. THE Eligibility FOR THE IAS OFFICER ARE AS BELOW-->>> 1-The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for this exam is a bachelor degree in any stream. 2-The minimum eligible age for general candidate is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 30 years. AGE RELAXATIONS Relaxation of age for candidate belonging to OBC category is 3 years and for candidate belonging to SC/ST category is 5 years. Preliminary examination-conducted during the second half of may. In the preliminary exam, you will have to write two papers. General studies Optional Paper SELECTIONS PROCESS:- The condidates will have to clear his/her Preliminary Exam the interview will be conducted for the final selections. Hope it helps you::: |

Sir, I am a 3rd year Bsc. Maths student, I want to become an IAS officer and for my PG course I am not interested to take Maths.Can it be helpful to me to choose social subjects like MSW in order to attain IAS?OR will it become a difficulty for me?
