Yes definitely, mathematics is very essential for the engineering course.

See, other than medical courses and some of the other courses like

- MBBS

- BDS

- B.pharma

- Fashion designing

- Interior designing

- Photography

- Theater

Since, you are planning for the engineering then maths is very essential for you. You can't escape from this subject.
In all the exams whether it is of

- private companies
- GATE
- government exams
- central exams

maths is very important.
