optional subject for ies exam is civil,mechanical,electrical and e&t .

what is the syllabus of ias mains exam of economics of 2011.

The syllabus for IES is similar to the syllabus of the GATE so if you have the idea on the syllabus of GATE EEE then it will be similar with minor changes

anyways the syllabus for IES is going to be uploaded in this post

and one thing i want to clear you that there will be No optionals for IES exam like

CSE(Civil Services Examination) Only CSE has the facility of optionals

The IES syllabus of the exam covers these topics for both the objective and Conventional type papers

they are :-

-> Electrical Circuits

-> Measurements and Instrumentation

-> CONTROL SYSTEMS.

-> Electrical Machines and Power Transformers

-> Power systems

-> ANALOG AND DIGITAL ELECTRONICS AND CIRCUITS

-> MICROPROCESSORS

-> COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

-> POWER ELECTRONICS

These are the topics which are covered in the syllabus of IES this syllabus is similar to the GATE EEE

There is no optional subject for Indian Engineering subject examination,this exam is similar to GATE exam.
Exam pattern:
There will be two section.
Section-1:Objectives type
General ability test(part1.General English,Part2.General Studies)
Duration 2hrs
200 marks

Electrical Engineering 1 Duration 2hrs 200 marks
Electrical Engineering 2 Duration 2hrs 200 marks

Section-2:Conventional type
Electrical Engineering 1 Duration 3hrs 200 marks
Electrical Engineering 2 Duration 3hrs 200 marks

Duration of IES exam is 3 days.

The Engineering Service Examination comprises of the following:
General Ability Test- 200 marks
Two objective type papers of the particular engineering discipline carrying 200 marks each.
Two conventional papers of the particular engineering discipline carrying 200 marks each.

There's no such thing like optional subjects in IES examination.

I'm attaching complete syllabus of IES under.

IES i.e Indian Engineering Services is a combined competitive examination is
conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the Indian
Engineering Services (IES).The Exam is conducted in the month of may/june .

The syllabus for IES is similar to the syllabus of the GATE So it mean
that there is no optional subjects present in this exam.

There are objective as well as subjective papers .It is a three day schedule of the
written examination.

One paper for GS (General Science) .This exam is of 2 hrs duration.
Technical subject is divided into two papers PAPER 1 and PAPER 2.

IMPORTANT DATES::

Date of notification :30.07.2011
Last date of filling application form :29.08.2011 (MONDAY)
Date of examination:03.12.2011 (SATURDAY)
