Is PCB subject combination eligible for admission in BCA course?
I'm a Bio-Science student i.e., I have completed my Higher Secondary from Science stream with subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I did not have Mathematics. I want to apply for BCA course now. Is it possible for me without Mathematics?

Re: Is PCB subject combination eligible for admission in BCA course?
Having completed 10+2 in Science stream, yes you are eligible to opt for BCA course.
But you are not eligible to get admission in all the colleges. Because, some colleges will give admission only for the candidates who have Mathematics subject at 10+2. However you don't worry about this. There are many colleges which will give direct admission to BCA course just on the basis of percentage of marks scored in 10+2. If you have scored a minimum of 60% of marks in your 10+2, then you can easily expect a admission. But this is a not a great choice of switching from Science stream to Computers stream as the subjects are totally different and it would take time for you to understand the concepts. I would suggest you to check with the College which you would like to join regarding the admission process. Some colleges would also conduct Entrance Exam to give admission. If there is any Entrance Exam, know the exam pattern well in advance and prepare for the same. |

Re: Is PCB subject combination eligible for admission in BCA course?
Sorry, to say that you are not eligible to pursue BCA course after completion of your 12th standard with PCB stream. To be eligible to pursue BCA course, you should have passed 12th standard or an equivalent examination with Mathematics subject from a Government recognised board. Since, you have not pursued Mathematics subject in your 12th standard, you are not eligible to get admission for pursuing BCA course.

Yes, you can pursue BCA without having Mathematics in 10+2. But there are many concepts in BCA course which you won't be able to understand without having knowledge of basic concepts of 11th and 12th Mathematics. In many colleges, you may not get admission for BCA course as they don't allow students having non-mathematics background.
