i am pursuing b.tech with mechnaical engineering branch and right now i am in final year and i want to join merchant navy so i want from you to tell me the procedure for this.

U have to face cds or upsc exam for joining navy.it requires above 60 percent marks in all semestar.fill the forms available on net

1. 10+2 PCM (Non Medical) with at least 50% marks, Passed or Appearing and min 50% in English
2. Medically Fit
3. Eye sight Max 6/24
4. No color blindness
5. Age limit 17 to 24 yrs
6. Valid Passport or must have applied for and spoken english


you can apply for interview to join merchant navy. in any stream of b.tech.
every year selection is taken place for b.tech holder that gives much satisfied salary and job environment also.

There is 1 year course for b.tech graduates for training in navy at various colleges in cities like Mumbai, Chennai etc. you can get the information about these colleges from internet.

You can get job in Merchant Navy after completing Mechanical Engineering degree, as long as you have completed it from recognized college. The Merchant Navy is related to export.

Nearly 90 percent of transportation of goods is done through sea. This is the main function of the Merchant Navy. Tranportation of goods, oil and heavy machinery is heavily dependent on the Merchant Navy.

As mentioned you can take direct entry in Merchant Navy after completing the course. Generally candidates who are interested in Merchant Navy after recommended to complete either B.Sc Nautical Science or the Marine Engineering course. To apply any of these courses candidates must meet the following criteria.

Eligibility

1. Complete 12th standard with PCM.

2. Only unmarried candidates are eligible.

3. Age limit is 20 years.

4. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

5. Must meet physical criteria of 6/6 vision etc.


Direct Entry

But it is also possible for Engineering students from other streams to get job. If you have completed B.Tech in Mechanical, Technology or Electrical then you are eligible for officer level job in Merchant Navy. However you will have to first complete mandatory 9 months long pre sea course in Marine Engineering from MERI.

Students who have completed 12th with PCM can also apply for Deck Cadet. If selected you will go through 3 months long pre sea training.

For that you must have a minimum of Bachelor Degree


And the minimum age must be 19 years


Maximum age is allowed up to 24 years

You must not have any backlogs


Must be Physically fit
