At present I am pursuing M.Com from Vidyasagar University,East Midnapore (West Bengal) in distance mode. So, can I appear in this exam?

Post graduation is the main qualification required to apply for this exam. You are eligible for NET/SET exam even when you have done your PG as a distance course as long as it is from a recognized institute. 55% marks is compulsory to apply for this exam. You can get details about these exams from official sites where in you can apply online. If you clear this exam with a good score, you can get in to lecturer positions.

Dear Aspirant

NET stands for National Eligibility Test. NET is an Entrance test conducted to recruit PG holder for Lectureship(LS) & Junior Research Fellowship(JRF) Programm.

NET is organized by UGC(University Grants Commission) twice in a year generally in the Month of June and December.


Eligibility criteria for NET(Lectureship):

• You should have completed Master Degree course in any specialization from recognized University.
• You must have secured Minimum of 55% marks(50% for ST/SC/PWD candidates)
• You AGE should be more than 19 years i.e. there is no upper AGe limit.
• Final year students are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility criteria for NET(Junior Research Fellowship):

• You should have completed Master Degree course in any specialization from recognized University.
• You must have secured Minimum of 55% marks(50% for ST/SC/PWD candidates)
• You AGE should be in Between 19 to 28 years(5 Years relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PWD& Females categories in upper Age limit)
• Final year students are also eligible to apply.

Pattern of UGC-NET Exam:

The minimum eligibility criterion is a post graduation in any discipline. You needs to have completed his master’s degree with more than 55% of marks.

This exam is carried out every June or July months.

If you attend the SLET and get qualified you can get in to positions of lecturers in different government colleges or universities in particular states.
