IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services.
The appointment in this service is done through Civil Services Examination which is conducted by UPSC once a year. The minimum educational qualification required for this examination is Graduation in any stream from some Govt. of India recognized university. There is no percentage restriction. About Civil Services Examination This exam is conducted every year by UPSC and the scheme of the exam is as under; The Civil Services Examination is comprised of two stages. 1. Preliminary Examination This is also called Civil Services Aptitude Test and is common test for all applicants. This contains questions from General studies(History, Geography, Politics, Economics and social development, General Science), English, Mathematical Aptitude etc. 2. Main Exam and Interview Those who qualify Preliminary exam are called for Main exam and on the basis of marks in Main exam, candidates are called for Interview. The total marks of Main exam and Interviw are sum up to produce final result. The Main examination comprise of following papers 1. Essay type Indian Language Qualifying Paper (300 marks) 2. English Qualifying Paper (300 marks) 3. General Essay type paper (200 marks) 4. General Studies (Paper-I & II 300 marks each) 5. Optional subject-I(Paper-I & II 300 marks each) 6. Optional subject-II(Paper-I&II 300 marks each) The subject for optional paper are as under. You can choose any two of them. The choice is completely yours. Agriculture Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce and Accountancy Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Management Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science and International Relations Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology But following combinations of two optional subjects are not permissible - Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration; - Commerce & Accountancy and Management; - Anthropology and Sociology; - Mathematics and Statistics; - Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science. - Management and Public Administration; - Any two engineering subjects - Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science. Important dates for IAS-2012 exam: Indian Administration Service(Preliminary exam) Notification for this year: Issue of application form from 4th Feb 2012 to 5th March 2012. If you want to become I.A.S officer then you have to pass the graduation in any stream you want from the recognized university. I.A.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year. Eligibility criteria:- >pass the graduation from recognized university with minimum 50% marks. > Age limit:- For open category:-21-30year For OBC category :- 21-33year For ST/SC category:-21-37 year > Must be citizen of India. good luck! |

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS EXAM This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year. Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam. But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule. The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years. Also you must be in citizen in India. Hi Dear,
Well ,every year UPSC will conduct this exam .This time already the date is gone ,but nevermind you can apply next year in the month of January , 2012,1st week . The eligiblity for this exam is that you should be minimum 21 years of age and completed your degree level or even last year appearing students may also apply for this exam .There are 3 phases in this UPSC exam i.e Pre - examination , Main examination and the last phase is an Interview process . in this way you can apply for civil services examination . I f you have any doubts related to UPSC exam you can simply goto the website namely www. upsc .gov.in or www. upssportal.com . you should possess a minimum age of 21 years and should have a minimum degree certificate of any course of any stream whether maths or science or commerce background .for ias you have to crack upsc exam.....best of luck |

Basic requirements for appearing Indian Civil Services Exams are a degree of any university; candidates who have appeared in the final exams can also appear in the preliminary Exams, but for the main exam the results of previous qualifying examination is essential. The candidates appearing for the main examination should also produce an application of qualifying the preliminary examination. If your interested in IAS Examination,, then you should be satisfied the eligibility criteria for for IAS examination . Education Qualification Required for IAS Entrance Examination :- You should be qualified in under graduation course in any stream { ie: science or commerce } from recognized university . Note : No Percentage of marks required for this Entrance Examination ... Only Pass Mark is enough to apply for this Entrance Examination. You dont require any minimum percentage of marks in Graduation to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Exams
This exam is held in 3 stages: >>Prelims >> Mains >> Interviews Next Prelims Exams will be held on 26th May 2013 Last date to fill the form is 4th April 2013 So, if you meet the below eligibilty, than you can fill the forms: Graduation pass in any Stream AGE- Minimum 21 years Maximum 30 years Candidates belonging to OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations ATTEMPTS- General candidates- 4 times OBC- 7 times SC/ST- No such restriction |

Minimum Educational Qualifications
The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification. Nationality: For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Ex-servicemen will get 5 more years exemption from the prescribed age limit. Number attemts: Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt. |
