you need appear for entrance exams like AIEEE etc.

some colleges are also giving direct admission into the chemical engineering based upon the merit in your +2

Over the years with the great expansion of scientific knowledge, the basis of applying science particularly chemistry to develop technology has increased tremendously. This has lead to the development of the profession of chemical Engineering.

Job prospect in Chemical Engineering :-

Since Chemical engineering is a vast field, the job prospectus and career options of a chemical engineer is varied and different like :-

1) Industries with manufacturing job like Haldia Chemicals,ONGC

2) In the field of Biotechnology, power production.

3) You can specialize in a particular chemical processes such as oxidation or polymerization or in a specific product such as plastic or rubber.

4) Other work areas of chemical engineers include food processing, coal preparation and mineral processing, explosives manufacturing.

There are so many institutes offering Chemical engineering degree such as:

IIT Kanpur

IIT Kharagpur

IIT Bombay

IIT Delhi

BITS Pilani

IIT Roorkee

IIT Guwahati

Jadavpur University, Faculty of Engg & Tech

College of Engg, Anna University

BESU,Shibpur

Haldia Institute of Technology

You need PCM subjects in 12th and then you will have to give entrance exams like IIT JEE, AIEEE, UPSEE. The procedure is same as that for any other engineering branch like electrical or electronics.

There are many options available or a chemical engineer. Most popular one is in petroleum industry like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Oil India Limited, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited You can apply for the moist popular PSU's like ONGC, HPCL etc.
The second most popular are petrochemical industries and refineries like Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited, Bongaigaon Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited, Guru Gobind Singh Refineries Limited.

Chemical engineers also join mineral-based industries, synthetic fiber units, petroleum refining plants, pesticides and fertilizers units and pharmaceutical units.
Some of the PSU's which are most famous among chemical engineers are ONGC, BARC, IOCL, GAIL, NFL, NALCO, DRDO, VIZAG STEEL and HPCL.

For joining these you will have to give written exam followed by interview. In many PSU's out of these Group discussion will also be conducted.
If you attempt Graduate aptitude test in engineering (GATE) after bachelor course and get good score in it then you can directly be called for interview without any written exam for companies like BARC.

Chemical engineers are required everywhere. From food industry to automobiles industry. There is no end to it.

Other wise you can continue further studies in Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, and Environmental Engineering.

for this you should have PCM in your +2
if you scored 80%-95% you can get direct admission in some colleges.

It is an immensely vast field,so job prospects also varied. One can join in the posts of process engineers, manufacturing supervisors, reservoir engineer, product specialist, production superintendent.

This field is involved with pharmaceutical, petroleum, polymer, medicine industries.

Chemical engineers design equipments and operate chemical plants.

Hindustan Institute of technology and sciences is a good college to join in chemical engineering. You can join this institute.

Here are some top colleges offering chemical engineering:

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

National Institute of Technology, Suratkal

Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Thapar University, Patiala

Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Tamilnadu

Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology, Maharashtra

SALARY:

In private sector the salary of a chemical engineer graduate can range from Rs. 15000 to Rs. 20000 per month in the starting.

Whereas in Public sector organizations, The salary is little less than those in private sectors but the engineers are well compensated for their little salary by other perks and allowances in addition to government accomodation, medical expenses as well as free travelling passes for their family members and dependents.

SCOPE AND JOB PROSPECTUS:

The job prospectus of chemical engineers are vast and different.

They can find jobs in areas like petroleum, petrochemical to food, materials, speciality chemicals, plastics, power production, environmental control, waste management and bio technology, processings, operations or manufacturing, research and development, design and construction, finance and teaching.

In public sectors, they are employed in areas to solve environmental problems like waste and water treatment, environmental regulation and recycling,.
On energy sectors, like energy conservation, research on alternate energy sources, health related research projects, defense establishments and atomic power plants.

They can also get employed in areas of nanotechnology.
