A device which is used for heating purpose is usually called furnace. In many industries, furnace is used to provide energy in the form of heat to the chemical reactions in the process like cracking. The energy required by the furnace is supplied directly by combustion, by electricity or by induction heating. The major components of modern furnaces are burners, heat exchangers, draft inducer, controls, safety devices, blower, and air movement devices. The process used in all the furnaces includes processes like convection, radiation, etc.

Course in Chemical Engineering

The bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering is a four year degree course. The course in chemical engineering deals with the application of physical science and life science. This branch of engineering teaches the candidates pursuing this course about the design, construction, and operation of various machines and plants where chemical reactions are performed. The candidates completing the course in chemical engineering generally should have a good knowledge in various chemicals used in various furnaces, vessels, etc. In the course they learn about the conduction, convection and radiation. They learn about the processes like heat exchange, mass transfer, and chemical technology.  They have sound knowledge in design and processes of various chemical equipments. Chemical engineers are needed in many industries like paper, polymer, atomic science, petrochemical, natural gas, fertilizers, etc.

Aspects of Chemical Engineering in different furnace industries

Furnace industries are the most significant source to produce the different significant materials such as the iron, steel, etc. Most of the materials are outcome of various chemical constituents. The production of these significant materials can be achieved only by person who have sound knowledge of chemical characteristics of different materials. The course in chemical engineering gives this knowledge about the characteristics of various materials during the course of the study. This shows the diverse aspects of chemical engineering in different furnace industries. The furnaces use the process of combustion, heat exchange, etc which are a part of chemical engineering. The process inside the furnace is largely dependent on convection and radiation and these are the most important aspects in chemical engineering. When the heat is provided to the furnace chemical reactions take place. A chemical engineer has an in-depth knowledge in various chemical reactions. Thus we can see that there is an immense application of chemical engineering in different furnace industries.
