OBC - Other Backward Class

Government of India has classifies some of the citizens on the basis of their social and economic status as OBC.

Futher, Government of West Bengal has made some more inclusions and segregated OBC Category in two more categories -

OBC -A and OBC - B

OBC- A stands for More backward class

OBC-B stands for Backward class.

I have attached a list of these inclusions made by West Bengal government.

Other Backward Class (OBC) are a group of citizens which are classified as a separate group of people, other than Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribes (ST), by government of India. These group of people are considered to be socially, economically and financially backward which are entitled to get reservation in public sector employment and education system.

OBS Commission of India has divide OBC category into two different list known as Non Creamy Layer (OBS- A) and Creamy Layer (OBC- B).

Non Creamy Layer (OBC- A) are considered to be Less wealthy, less educated class of OBC people.

Whereas Creamy Layer (OBC- B) are considered to be wealthier and educated than OBC- A class of people.

OBC is a other backward class,
This is a one of the cost,
In that you have many sub castes such as,

OBC-A,
OBC-B,
OBC-C,
OBC-D.

which category Baishya Kapali belongs.....OBC-A or OBC-B ?

I am from kolkata... my all documents are of kolkata only.. infact born and brought here only... but my home town is uttar pradesh.. i am preparing for competitive job. so want to make obc certificate from u.p.. moreover my father work here... if i proceed for obc certificate from u.p, will it be legal and supportive in my competition carrier? and also can i appear as obc candidate in all sorts of competitive exam specially civil service and judicial service from both the state i.e west bengal and uttar pradesh?? sir pls help me with this so i can take the further step in my carrier and also suggest me with the best... thank you...

I have submitted documents for OBC Certificate in Block Office. They told me I'll get OBC-C certificate. Does it hold the same facility as A and B?

there r two kind of certificate one will have a heading"FORM OF CERTIFICATE TO BE PRIDUCED BY OBC FOR APPLYING FOR APPOINTMENT TO POSTS UNDER GOVERNMENT OF INDIA". U can make this one from UP if there is a house there in ur father's name there & that address will become ur permanent address. and through this u can apply for all central govt jobs.Onother one is a caste certificate that can be made for applying to state govt job of a given state only.BUT AGAIN YADAVS ARE IN W.B. OBC LIST ALSO .SO THE CERTIFICATES CAN BE MADE FROM HERE ALSO.I AM ALSO AN YADAV OF U.P BUT BORN & BROUGHTH UP IN KOLKATA.

hellow, I'm Sumitra Thapa , fromWEST -BENGAL i have received obc certificate, but in my certificate it hasn't mention any particular category,so what that mean i really don't understand ? please help me !

OBC:-
Other Backward Class ..
Government classified the category of people into following
1) OC:-
general category
2) BC:- Backward class
3) SC:- scheduled caste
4) ST:- scheduled tribes

Expect OC, all are considered as backward classes ...

OCB-A:-
More backward class .
OCB-B:-
Less backward class.

I am Harshad nayak in gujarat my sub cast targala in gujarat given me to o.b.c. certificate . I have confused in which category in I am AorB.

Obc stands for Other backword class.Govt of India devided it into two categories:-

Obc -A
Obc-B

First one is more backword comparatively to the second one.

Will i receive the same age relaxation as stated by government of India ( 3 year age relaxation) if i be of OBC -A

OBC A means creamy layer :-
Those persons who are financially strong.

OBC B means non- creamy layer
Those who belongs to lower and poor financial background.

I have OBC-B certificate issued from West Bengal. I also have OBC-NCL certificate(that too issued from West Bengal) as per the requirement of JEE Mains and Advanced. As i have qualified in WBJEE, im in a state of confusion on whether i should fill my category as OBC-A or OBC-B for WBJEE e-counselling.
