What is the eligibility criteria asked to enroll in NDA exam?


Hello Sir/Mam,

I want to know that I can fill the NDA examination form or not because Iwas born in 1-October-1996.? What is the eligibility criteria asked to enroll in NDA exam? Can you please provide me the correct information on the same as soon as possible?

You can apply for the N.D.A. exam as the Age criteria for the N.D.A. is 19 years last and your age is 18 years and 7 months so you can apply for the N.D.A. as the Exam is conducted two times a year every year.
This exam is conducted for all the three wings in armed forces-
Air forces
Navy wing
Army wing

Eligibility criteria for N.D.A. is -


>> Candidate to be minimum 12th passed out and should be Indian and the candidate passed the 12th with physics and mathematics can apply for all three wings and the candidates passed in other streams as in arts and commerce can only apply for the army wing.

>> Candidate should be physically fit and have the eye sight of the minimum 6/6 and also has no medical health issue if persist that candidate will be disqualified.

>> A subject of Nepal and Bhutan can also apply.

>> Candidate must fall in the age group of-16.5-19 years.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy.Yes,you can apply for NDA exam your given height is perfect as per the height taken in NDA exam.

There are three categories in NDA are---Indian Army,Air Force and Navy.There are total 375 posts in NDA.

Candidate who want to apply for Indian Army must pass his/her class 12th from a recognized board.

Candidate who want to apply for Air Force and Navy must pass his/her class 12th with Physics and maths from a recognized board.


Candidate minimum height should be 157.5 cm and 162.5 cm for Air Force candidate.Basically the Exams are conducted between March-April and August-September.

Hello Kilkari bhatia,

Its nice to see that you having interest in getting enrolled in the NDA.

The term "NDA" stands for National Defense Academy. The Union Public Service Commission is responsible for conducting the NDA Exam twice every year for the for the selection of candidates in the following academies :

1) Indian Army
2) Air Force Acadmey
3) Indian Naval Academy

The Eligibility Criteria for NDA Examination are mentioned below :

A] Age Criteria :

>> Your age must lie in between 16.5-19 years.
>> No further relaxation in age is given to any candidate no matter they belong to whatever category or for female candidates as well.

B] Educational Qualifications :

>> You must have passed Higher Secondary examination [10+2] from any recognized board if willing to join Indian Militant Academy.

>> In order to join AFA or INA, you should have passed 12th with physics and Mathematics as your main subjects.

C] Marital Status :

>> You must be unmarried.

D] Physical Condition :

>> You must be physically and mentally sound.

The NDA Examination is taken in two parts :

a) Written Examination of 900 marks including questions from :

1] Mathematics (Objective Type ) : 300 marks

2] General Ability Test (Objective Type ) : 600 marks

b) SSB Interview : 600 marks

So, according to the above mentioned criteria, I think you have missed out the chance to appear in the NDA Examination coz your age is over than what required for the exam.

But don`t feel sad, as complete your Bachelor`s degree with great marks and apply for the CDS [Combined Defense Services Examination].

NDA stands for National Defense Academy and the same examination is held twice every year by Union Public Service Commission two times every year and are called as NDA I (conducted in the month of Apr-May) and NDA II ( held in the month of Sep-Oct ).

The NDA has three wings which are Indian Navy , Indian Air force and Indian Army .

The NDA examination is held in two phases which are Written examination and SSB interview ( eligible if you qualify written examination ) .

The minimum eligibility criteria for the same examination are as here under :-

* You must have done your 12th with Physics , Chemistry and Mathematics as your main subjects for joining in all the three wings otherwise you are eligible for only Indian Army. Degree must be from a recognized school/college affiliated to recognized board .

* You must be an unmarried male candidate .

* You must have the citizenship of India .

* Your age must be within 16.5 years to 19 years at the time of examination ..

* The physical and mental fitness are required as per the rules .

As your age is almost 18 years and 7 months so you are eligible for NDA II examination 2015 if it is conducted in month of September .

If you fail to crack this examination then you will have one more option of CDS examination to join the defense field at the level of your graduation studies .

Eligibility for NDA exams :

Age Limit : Age of candidate must be from 16.5 to 18 years.

Nationality : Candidate must be citizen of India.

Sex and Marital Status : Aspirant must be unmarried Male.

Education Qualification :

For Indian Army : Candidate must have passed 12th class in any discipline from any recognised board.

For Indian Navy and Air Force : Candidate must have passed 12th class with physics and mathematics from any recognised board.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy and the examination is conducted by the UPSC twice every . It provides a better opportunity for those candidates who want to see their future in defence services .

Yes you have only one opportunity left with you to apply in the NDA examination .So you can apply in NDA II of 2015 .

The eligibility criteria for the examination is :-
Candidates passed +2 from a recognized university are eligible .
Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as main subjects for science candidates . If you are a commerce candidates then it is must needed to have mathematics in the main subjects .
The candidates age must be between 16.5-19 years .

The application form for the NDA II will be available in the month of July on www.upsc.gov.in .
The examination will be conducted in the month of September or sometimes in the first week of October .

The examination is conducted in two stages :-
Written.
SSB .

The written examination is of 900 marks and it is taken I two papers of mathematics ( 300 marks ) and General Ability of (600 marks ) .
The minimum qualifying marks are aspected to be around 35%-40% marks .

The candidates selected from the written examination are called for the SSB .

Yes, you are eligible to apply for the NDA exam with respect to your age.

NDA stands for National Defense Academy.It has three wings;

Indian Military Academy.

Indian Naval Academy.

Indian Air Force Academy.

UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year with the name;NDA I and NDA II for recruitment in the defense services.

The criteria which has to be fulfilled to get admission in NDA are following:-

-The candidate has to clear the entrance exam conducted by UPSC.

-The candidate must be a citizen of India.

-The age limit for the candidate is 16.5 years to 19 years.

-Only unmarried male candidate can apply for the exam.

-The qualification required to join NDA is 12th class of 10+2 education system from a recognized board for Indian Military Academy and 10+2 with Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics for Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

-The selection process involves written examination followed by personal interview by Service Selection Board.

-The candidate should be physically fit as per the Physical Standards required to join NDA.

-The minimum height for a NDA candidate to join Indian Army should not be less than 157 cm.

The eligibility criteria for the National Defense Academy examination are as follows:

1. You must have done 10+2 or appearing for it from a recognized stream. For Airforce and Navy, a candidate must have taken Physics and Mathematics in 10+2 as compulsory subjects.

2. The age limit for NDA is 16.5-19.5 years. So you will be eligible for the NDA 2 in 2015 as your date of birth is 01/10/1996.

Important dates for NDA 2 2015:

Date of notification: 20/06/2015.

Last date of receiving application:17/07/2015.

Date of entrance examination:27/09/2015.

Only unmarried male Indian citizens can apply for the exam.

NDA stands for the National Defense Academy. The entrance exam for this academy is conducted twice every year by the Union Public Service Commission.

Essential requirements for NDA entrance exam:

1. Academic Qualification:

>>You must have done your 10+2 from a recognized board or appearing for it. For Indian Army, you can apply for NDA/NA exam from any stream in 10+2 but for Navy and Airforce, science stream consisting of subjects Physics and Mathematics is necessary.

2. Age limitation:

The general age limit for NDA exam is 16.5-19.5 years. The notification for the NDA 2 exam in 2015 will come on 20/06/2015 then only the specific limitations of age will come.

So you need to wait for notification for proper age limit. UPSC will release a specified interval, candidates born only in that interval can apply for the exam.

3. Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates can apply for the NDA/NA exams.

4. Physical fitness is necessary for this exam.

Examination pattern:

NDA entrance exam consists of written test and Service Selection Board.

Written test consists of questions from Mathematics upto 10+2 level, English, General Science and Awareness.

NDA Eligibility Criteria:

You should have passed 12th Class or equivalent examination organized by a State Education Board or a University.

If you are interested in Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy , You should have passed 12th Class or equivalent examination organized by a State Education Board or a University with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

You would be eligible to appear for this examination, if you are born not before 2nd day in the month of July in the year 1995 and not after 1st Day of January in the year 1998.

No reservation in age is allowed for SC/ST/OBC etc candidates.

You must be an unmarried male candidate.

Selection Process:

Selection process of the NDA is start with the written examination which is conducted by Union Public service Commission (UPSC).Those who qualify this written exam are only applicable to appear for SSB interview.

Sorry to say that you are not eligible for NDA (National Defense Academy) examination, you are not satisfied the age eligibility criteria, that's why you are not eligible for NDA examination. As per the eligibility criteria, you were not attained the age of 19 years at the time of commencement of training & you are already overage.

Only unmarried male candidate between the age of 16.5-19 years are eligible to apply for NDA Examination.

NDA (I) 2015 examination is already completed and only those aspirants are eligible to register for NDA (II) 2015, if they have born between January 2, 1997 and January 1, 2000 & as per you age, you are not eligible for NDA Examination.

If you are interested to join defence, then I suggest you to please complete your graduation first and then apply for CDS Examination & other defense examination. After graduation, you can apply for CDS, AFCAT, UES (University entry scheme) & NCC Special Entries etc.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy. If you want to get enrolled into NDA, you have to appear in the UPSC NDA examination.
NDA Examination is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) twice in a year for the recruitment of candidates into various fields of defence. They are :

* Indian Military Academy (IMA)
* Indian Naval Academy (INA)
* Indian Air Force Academy (IAF)
* Officer's Training Academy (OTA)


>> In order to get into NDA and to appear for the examination, you must satisfy the following eligibility criteria as specified by the UPSC.

** Eligibility Criteria :

* Nationality : You must be an Indian citizen to apply for the examination.

* Gender : Only Male candidates are allowed to apply.

* Marital Status : The candidate must be an unmarried citizen.

* Age limit : The age limit required is 16.5 years to 19 years. // There is no age relaxation for any category candidates.

** Educational Qualifications :

* For Indian Military Academy : The candidate must have passed their Intermediate course(10+2) from a recognized Board or any equivalent qualification may be considered.
