Re: What is the minimum qualification required to become an IAS officer
IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services
The appointment to the service is only through Indian Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC. The exam is conducted once every year. The minimum educational qualification required to become eligible for this exam is Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. There is no restriction as per discipline. You pass 12th with science or arts or commerce; in all the cases you can apply for the exam after completing graduation. Also, there is no percentage restriction in this exam. You pass the qualifying exam with any percentage of marks, you are eligible for this exam. I would suggest you to go through the previous year advertisement of the exam so that you can understand everything about the exam. The advertisement for the 2012 examination has been attached with this message. Refer it for your needful. |
