I am student of b.a. 3rd sem....I want to be a IPS police officer. so plz tell me how can eligible for the post? What is the minimum qualification required for applying IPS Police officer post? Am I eligible for it or not? Can someone please guide me?

Qualification Required:-You must have graduate degree from a recognized university.You must have scored in graduate is minimum 50% marks.

Age Requirement:-Your age should be between 21 to 30 years.

5 years age relaxation for SC category candidates.

3 years relaxation for OBC category candidates.

Selection Process:- 1.Preliminary Exam
2.Main Exam
3.Interview

Above three levels of examination which must be qualified in order to become an IPS officer.

To become an IPS officer you have to qualify in the civil services examination. The civil services examination is conducted by the UPSC every year.

The eligibility to appear for the examination is candidates must have passed or pursuing in the final year at the time of giving the application for the examination and age between the 21-32 years with the relaxation in the age for the reserved category.

So you have to wait for some years to appear for the examination. But you need to start the preparation to qualify in the examination. The examination is conducted in the three stages.

You are now studying B.A 3rd semester that means you are in second year. So you have to make sure that complete graduation with minimum percentage of marks from the recognized university. Age should be in between 21 to 30 years.

And also you should have minimum qualification of graduation. Final year candidates of graduation can also eligible to apply for IPS Exam. You need to do is try to prepare well for the exam during final year of graduation.

Since you are pursuing your 3rd semester of BA course, you will be eligible to apply for IPS after completing your Graduation.

There is no specific exam called IPS Exam instead there is a common written exam for all the civil services which is civil services exam.

-One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized college.
-Candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Graduation and waiting for the results can also apply for this exam but they should be able to show the proof of passing in Graduation by the time they appear for Interview.
-The nationality of the candidate should be India.

Age criteria :
Candidates of General category should be in the age group of 21-32 years.
Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category.

So, you can start coaching for this exam from now on and try to be strong enough in all the aspects of the written exam by the time you appear for exam.

There is heavy competition for this exam and you should score more in order to be placed in IPS. Keep this in mind and carry out your preparation accordingly.

Choose the optional subjects for Main Exam in accordance with your subjects in BA course.

IPS Officers are appointed on the basis of Civil Services Exam itself.

Recruitment Process is held in three stages i.e.

• Preliminary Exam
• Mains Exam
• Personal Interview

The candidate after qualifying these three stages is placed in the Merit List prepared on the basis of these three stages.

Then, on the basis of merit list, candidates are appointed posts like IFS, IAS, IRS, IPS, etc.

There are certain physical standards required in Civil Services Exam to be recruited as IPS Officer:

Height:
For Males: Minimum height is 165 cm,
For Females: Minimum height is 150 cm.

Other than General Category Candidates, minimum required height is 160 cm for Male and 145 cm for Female Candidates.

Chest:
For Males: Minimum 84 cm, and should be expandable up to 5 cm
For Females: Minimum 79 cm, and should be expandable up to 5 cm

IPS stands for Indian Police Service and it is the second highest post in the administrative field after IAS which a civilian can achieve.

For becoming an IPS officer one needs to clear Civil Services Examination organized by Union Public Service Commission once every year.

First of all,I want to tell you that IPS stands for Indian police services.
And selection for IPS officer posts are done through UPSC examination.
So,it means that you will have to follow all the rules of UPSC examination.
And as the basic eligibility criteria for UPSC examination is graduation.
So,you can't apply for that currently but next year after completion of your graduation you will be able to apply for UPSC's.
