ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IPS OFFICER

The eligibility criteria and the physical requirements for IPS officer is as follows...

-> AGE LIMIT : Minimum 21 years to maximum 30years for General Category, 33 for OBC and 35 for SC/ST candidates.

-> EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION : Any degree with any discipline from a recognized university. Candidate doing final year can also apply.

-> PHYSICAL QUALIFICATION : Physical need as of height, chest, eye sight are as follows...

-> HEIGHT : Male - 165 cm and Female - 150cm for General Category, for SC/ST/OBC the height for Male - 160cm and Female - 145cm.

-> CHEST : Male - 84cm in Expansion - +5cm and Female - 79 cm in Expansion - +5cm.

-> EYE SIGHT : 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for worse eye and 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.

-> WEIGHT : Normal weight with physical fitness which includes weekly run for 10kms in 60mins, rope climbing etc.. which surely makes you to be fit..

For IPS-

Height ? Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST
(not the SC/ OBC) ? 160 cm

Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general
also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

Chest ? Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

(Those can?t expand the chest go to next service. If
expansion is less during 1st Medical, i.e. just after

result, or appeal, expansion can be shown.)

Many people fail in this test of chest expansion.

(I know some people who have cleared this exam during
the second Medical Test, i.e. after the Medical Exam
conducted after the declaration of Final result)

6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye.

Near vision J 1 for good eye.
J2 for worst eye.

The correction is by lenses
only.

High standard for the Colour-blind test.

To become an IPS officer you must have cleared your graduation from a recognized university. And your age must also be above 21years and below 30years. However you also require some minimum physical standards for becoming an IPS officer. They are

Height – Male 165 cm, Female 150 cm

Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking.

Hii Sandeep there is no physical requirements for the IAS exam
