Re: What is the procedure to become an IAS officer?
IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service. Many of the candidates are having a desire to see themselves as an IAS officer because this position is being respctable position in the society.
But it is not so easy to become an IAS Officer. One should have strong determination, dedication and be able to put his best efforts with proper planning. For IAS, one has to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. The selection procedure is by -CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview Here is the required eligbility criteria for the candidate to take CSAT Exam. Academic Qualification : -One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. -Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation can also take this exam but they should be able to show the proof of passsing in Graduation when they appear for Interview. Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this Exam. -Candidates of OBC category should be in the age group of 21-33 years. -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category. You did not mention the highest academic qualification that you have. So, I suggest you to have good preparation for General English, General Awareness and Aptitude which are part of the CSAT Exam. Decide upon the optional subjects for Main Exam as early as you can. One should have to secure high marks in Main Examination to be placed in IAS. Otherwise, you may also be placed in IPS and IRS etc. For complete information on this exam, you can visit http://www.upsc.gov.in/ |
