dear friend,

these two are different field IAS and software engineer .

if you want to be a software engineer then you have lots of chance in private sector.

software engineering job is not tough also IAS exam also a tough exam.

just you have to passed b-tech degree then you are join in any company for software engineering.

but maximum software engineering job is in private sector.

IAS job is in govt sector job.

all the best.

Its not about options but it's only about your interest,goal,ambition and choice.It's your career and we are not the one's to decide.We can just help you to clear your doubts regarding career and education.A person who is dedicated towards software side will definitely tell you that software is the better option and Government Employees will definitely tell you that IAS is the best option.

Well please know the procedure of how to become a Software Engineer and an IAS Officer because nothing is so simple.To become an IAS Officer you can either go through the CSAT Examination conducted by the UPSC Board else you can even go through the Group 1 Services examination for the posts of Assistant Collector.To become a Software Engineer you should go through the Engineering course i.e either CSE or IT Stream to have better knowledge about the Software stream.

I have attached the CSAT Notification of the year 2011 hence please go through it.

IAS is better than Software Engineer
Now a days,in our country(India) no value for Software engineers.
But IAS have great value.every one respects IAS aspirants also.

If you want good name and fame,you want to serve people go for IAS.

If you want money and enjoy go for Software Job.

Its purely depends upon your interest.

Here i will give the procedure for how to become a IAS or S/W Engineer.

If you interested in IAS you will write the CSAT examination,which is conducted by UPS C.After completion of that exam you can go for Groups.
OR

If you are interested in S/W,You will complete your B Tech,After that you can get a good job.

So its depends upon your interest.

Dude it seems that you are in a big confusion.I think you like both IAS and Software engineering but both are not possible together as you know that's why you are looking for best of them but let me tell you that you can not compare two totally different things if one is right then another is left.Both things have got their own quality.If you want to become a rich man,want earn more money then go for software engineer and if you want power,want to help people,want to do something for your country which will make you proud then without any doubt go for IAS..

As you have not mentioned neither your past qualification nor about your present working status so its very difficult to suggest you any career without referring your marks and degrees.But as a general it is true as referred above by my friend "Jits" that these two are the different career with each other.IAS leads to you a reputed & highly status job in the govt. sector but software engineer will make you an option to work with the MNC's not only in India but in abroad too but its a private job and all needs an efficient & experienced persons in their field.So its all about your interest,goal & choice.

basically it depends upon you interest and you planning about studies. in todays generation software is a good choice and easily to get chance but ias is not at all easy to get.

IAS officers firmly determined to their work for better future of country.
Its recommended that, if you really wanna to serve country you should opt IAS. Although its completely depends on your choice and interest, no body can tell about your capacity and interests excepts you. If you are much more interested in software engineering then you should garnish your carieer in engineering.
Just believe in yourself and have look on your interests, in which field you can more and easily express yourself. Choose the sector in which you feel to have comfort to express your views. looking at things very casually, becoming either an IAS or a even software engineer

is not that easy.

Only top 20-30 people in the CSE examination get IAS rank.

and for Becoming a good SW engineer you have to be in top 1000-2000

in aieee or in 100 in IIT_JEE.

Further for becoming an IAS you need to b e graduate.

so decide on the Basis of your Capability what you can become.

However becoming a software engineer is relatively easy.

IAS is definitely a better choice ( except for maybe if you do csc. from IITs)

IAS is best and having low crowd compairing SE. but u have to give your 100% then you may succeed.mind it not 99%.

Here the crowd is young … n u retire early compared to a Software job .

Now turning to IAS , you are the decison maker !!! You get Authority to drive the projects that change lives of people . But pay is less , but u get the perks . What do u earn for ?? You need to pay House EMI , car EMI etc .. If u get these then is’nt the pay competitive . You join IPS .. you get to ride horses !! the royal life .. After all what does money get you ??You get a power with money ..If that power is given by Authority , its great !!

Dont be in any illusion !! Its ur life u need to decide

A Software engineer can become an IAS.
The only thing for preparing are ...
1. Have wish to appear and pass the exam with good marks.
2. Daily 4-5 hours + Full Saturday and Sunday are enough for the preparation. If you are getting the less free time than this then u can have two ways to go for IAS
a. Leave your current job and give your 100 % to UPSC.
B. Keep you current job and if you are not getting the time less than 4-5 hr a day......then plan your studies for two year............have the target for the second attempt. Here you should be confident that you should reach atleast to the Mains............if u crack the mains .............it will be a sugur in milk.

I choose the second option as I cannot have more than 3-4 hrs a day but have full Sat and Sunday.
I am preparaing for the CSE with the 2 years plan (only high level planning is done till now) and my targte is to get through CSE in UPSC-2011.
I will there in 2011 All India List and IAS batch 2011..................Are you?

You choose your field based on your interest. First, Identify which

field you are interested and think I am Eligible and perform well in that field

and than choose the field either became an Engineer or IAS.

For software engg you read engg.
in good college.

For IAS you prepare after complete your graduation.
but IN IAS more prestige will be there and IN Software engg money is there..

This question depends on your career in which field you want to make your career.

You should choose any field according to your intrest.you can take help of your Parents and your close friends.

Both fields are very good.

If you are intrested in Engineering then you can go for Software Engineering because you are intrested in Software Engineering.There are many other branches also in Engineering.

among ias and software engineering, ias is the best. since ias is a government job, it will provide a security of job to you. whereas if you become an software engineer, then you will only have to do government jobs.
the salary of an ias officer is also more than an average software engineer. also there are a lot of other facilities given to an ias officer. so you must opt for ias.
but it also depends on your interest

actually i am interested in both.
sir ,to pass the upsc exam-are they taking any money internally to pass the candidate. that's why i am getting fear to prepare for upsc exam
for iim-as i am b.pharm candidate ,is it possible to get sit in iim-bcoz i heard that max engeneering students oniy geating seats in iim.

definitely civil service is the best... a software engineer is nothing in front of an ias ,ips. one signature of an ias officer will the change the fate a company.even a ceo is nothing comparable to an ias.civil service gives everything prestige,power,authority,security,money. go for civil service. if you want publicity,massu,power,fame go for ips.my favourate.

Software engineer:-

Benefits:-

- Opportunity to work on good projects

- Better pay scale

-Go for either PVT. or GOVT. sector

-Huge opportunity

-If you place in MNCs , you will get many advantages like good working condition.

Challenges:-

-To get into Top MNCs is quite tough and you need to clear,
-Aptitude test
-Technical Interview
-HR Interview

-Work Life balance is not so good.

Have you ever travelled in MTC bus in chennai, with hell lot of congestion,sweating in summer,ill behavior from bus conductor???
Have you ever traveled in red light car in highway with police cordon and salute from your subordinate???

This is what the difference between s/w engg. and IAS.now it's up to you.It takes hell lot of toll to get IAS.n not even fraction of pain in becoming s/w engg.
If u wanna b lost in mass go for s/w engg.....if u wanna be sparkled like diamond go for IAS....feel the difference!!!

Both the services has it's own perks and falls.
Being a software engineer you can work in the luxurious corporate sector while being an Ias ,you need to work at the grassroot level bringing Change in the life of at least one person

Really people writing answer do believe that ias officers do better for our country,any gov employee first fills own packet if remaining will go to public,
But software engineers are the only professionals get foreign money into country
Which is used to run our country and even to pay the salary of ias officers, do u really want to get involved into development of our country then analyse both the field carefully
