first of all you have to pass 12 with science subject physics, chemistry and mathematics.
then appear in engineering entrance examination like IIT JEE, AIEEE or other state based engineering entrance examination. then take admission in engineering with computer science or IT branch. after completion of your B.Tech you may go towards software job then you will become a software engineer.

also there is one other procedure. after 12 go for BCA. take admission in a reputed institution in BCA. after BCA complete MCA. then go for software job and you will become software engineer.

One can become a Software Engineer by qualifying B.Tech degree in IT/CS. For admission to these courses, one needs to qualify entrance exams like AIEEE, or IIT JEE. Pass in 12th with PCM is the qualification required to attend such exams. Also you can go for courses like BCA or BCS. After that you can get in to MCA program to become software professional.

You can complete diploma course and then give a lateral exam in A COLLEGE AND CAN GET DIRECTLE 2ND YEAR ADMISSION INTO IT to get a degree......Hope it helps.
