Re: What should I take in my 11th standard so that I could become an Astronaut in future?
Well dear for fulfilling your Astro dreams you have to make your way through Mathematics and Physics as base.
So, you have to opt for Pure Science or Non-Medical science in your +2, with a subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as elective. Then after that you have two ways to go through 1) Through general B.sc/M.sc/PhD degree courses 2) Through Engineering degree courses. Going through B.sc/M.sc/PhD will take very long of 7 years after completing your +2. But would be much effective in this regard. After your +2 you have to specilize in Physics or its branches like- Astrophysics, atc. in your Bachelor, Master and PhD degree as well. Whereas going through Engineering will take you 4 years after 12th. And the best option is going through IIST. IIST conducts Admission to its specialized courses which leads in space tecnhnology. For entering into IIST you have to crack ISAT or IITJEE after that you will be provided Admission into B.tech which are specially meant for becoming a space scientist. After completing the course you will be appointed as a Scientist in ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Regards ~Faiyaz~ |

Re: What should I take in my 11th standard so that I could become an Astronaut in future?
Dear friend,
It is very good that you have chosen the target at the beginning of your career. To became an Astronaut you take science stream with PCM in 11th standard. After that you can do the engineering/ BSC, MSc then PHD So it is better to choose engineering, but for getting astronaut branch in engineering you have to crack ISAT/IIT entrance exam. then only you can take admission in 4 years engineering programme. Al the best........... |

the basic requirements even for a pilot is to pass 12th or its equivalent with maths and physics. these improve ur understand in the further course of study! so this forms the basic criteria. after ur higher secondary opt for a similar field. NASA or any other organisations recruits hand picked pilots from the defence services based on flying experience and training. i suggest u hav the flying edge too. regards.... |

hi Rajnith,
If you want to become an astronaut, complete your 12th with science(maths) stream & then apply for B.S. & M.S. dual degree course in physics at IISER (Bhopal, Mohali, Pune, Kolkata, Tiruvanantpuram). |

Re: What should I take in my 11th standard so that I could become an Astronaut in future?
You can advance either via PCM or PCB.
What really makes a difference is what you do after passing the 12th standard and with what result you pass the 12th boards. Get into any of the IITs offering Aerospace engg or opt for any foreign university for a B.Tech, M.Tech or a Phd degree in aerospace engg. Best of luck |

Re: What should I take in my 11th standard so that I could become an Astronaut in future?
Dear Friend ,
Glad to know that you have decided to become an astronaut in future. In order to become an astronaut , you have to consider on the following very carefully : 1) After completing your 10th , you must have to choose PCM as your key subjects because PCB students are not eligible for becoming an astronaut. 2) You have to score well in 12th , so that you can give entrance exams of Various engineering colleges and can qualify these exams well . 3) Here comes your options , from now , you can take admission in Engineering colleges and select Aerospace Engineering as your main stream to become an astronaut after 4 years because , if you pursue B.Tech in Top Engineering colleges , then after completing B.tech you can be placed in ISRO as an astronaut . This is the best option in my opinion as it takes only four years. 4) On the other hand , if you do not want to go for Engineering , then you have to complete your graduation , post graduation and Ph.D in physics which will take a very long time span of seven years. So , my dear friend , i will suggest you to go for the first option. Hope the information will help you. |
