Re: Eligibility criteria and relaxation to apply in Indian Foreign Service exam for ST candidate who has completed B.Tech?
Yes, you are eligible to apply for "Indian Foreign Services (IFS) Examination" being a final year B.Tech Graduate. The basic educational qualification required to be eligible is "Candidates must have passed Graduation or Bachelor Degree" in any one of the following streams namely Veterinary Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Botany, Animal Husbandry, Geology and Statistics. Apart from this, Candidates who have passed their Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Forestry and Engineering are also eligible to appear in Indian Foreign Services Examination. Final year candidates who are pursuing their Bachelor's Degree are also eligible to appear in IFS (Indian Foreign Services) Examination which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.
Since you are a B.Tech Final year student, you are certainly eligible to appear in Indian Foreign Services Examination. There will be an age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ ST Category candidates, since you belong to ST Category you would get age relaxation of 5 years in your life time for attempting Indian Foreign Services Examination. The minimum age must be 21 years and maximum age must not exceed 30 years for General Category Candidates, whereas the maximum age would be 35 years for ST Category candidates. There will be slight relaxation in Physical Standards, Percentage required, minimum marks required in IFS qualifying examination. |
