IPS officer eligibility for Handicapped candidate

I have problem in my left leg and it has been operated 2 times and still there is a weakness in my left leg. Also, difference between both leg can be easily seen. But I can walk and run easily. Is there any problem to become an IPS officer?

No, candidates with handicapped category are not eligible for recruitment in Indian Police Service but you are eligible for selection as an I.A.S Officer.

So, it will be better for you to qualify in Civil Services examination to get I.A.S job. The eligibility to appear for Civil Service examination is :-

Candidate must have passed bachelor degree from recognised university.

Candidate's age must be between 21-32 years and there is +3 and +5 years in upper age limit for reserved category.

So, you can appear for examination and after qualifying in all three stages of examination eligible for selection as an Indian Administrative Service Officer.

First thing I would like to make you clear that if you hold the certificate of physically handicapped candidate then you are not eligible for applying for the post of IPS officer because for their post physical requirement as per the standards is must.

But you have options of posts like IAS, IFS, etc. in the administrative fields for which you will need to qualify Civil Services examination.

Civil Services examination is held once every year by UPSC for recruitment of administrative officer. The examination is held in three stages which includes Preliminary Test, Mains and Personal Interview respectively.

--> The minimum qualification which you must possess for applying for the same examination are as here under :-

* You must have the nationality of India.

* Your age must be within 21 years to 32 years in case you belong to general category. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per the norms.

* You must have completed your bachelor degree course in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year students are also eligible.

For further details regarding the same examination you must refer to the link www.upsc.gov.in.
