To be eligible to get Lateral Entry admission in Engineering course, you must have completed three years Diploma in Engineering course from a recognised board and you need to appear in Lateral Entry examinations like LEET/ECET/JELET examinations which is conducted by your respective state entrance examinations board. By qualifying the entrance examination, based upon your examination rank, you will be allotted a seat in a particular college and you can get direct admission in second year of four years B.E/B.Tech course.

Eligibility Criteria required to join Engineering Colleges though Lateral Entry Scheme:

>> Lateral Entry Scheme itself says that Candidates join Colleges/ university through lateral entry i.e., Late joining.

>> To be eligible for joining Engineering Colleges through Lateral Scheme is, "Diploma Program in Engineering or Architecture" from an AICTE approved institute in the concerned stream.

>> You are required to clear the Entrance Examination for getting admission into Engineering Colleges. The best All India Entrance Examination I would suggest you is "JEE (Joint Engineering Entrance Examination)".

>> Candidates who ever completes their Diploma Program from an AICTE approved college with minimum 45% marks (for General and OBC category candidates) or 40% marks (for SC/ ST Category Candidates).

>> After clearing JEE Entrance Examination, you may get admission to 2nd year of 4 year B.Tech/ Engineering or 5 year Architecture program through lateral entry scheme.

Admission in the engineering colleges for the candidate who have pursued the Diploma is through the LET examination.
.
LET stands for the Lateral Entry Examination and the eligibility to appear for the examination :-
