It is very good if you have dreamt of such a big dream.
A candidate with graduation from any stream can appear for civil service exams. So, i would like to suggest you that the stream in which you are interested you can join but as you have completed your 12th from science stream hence you should go graduation in the same stream. |

Re: Which graduation course I need to choose if I wanted to become an IPS?
According to my opinion you should go for B.Sc course in any subject.
I am giving this suggestion because for getting IPS post you need to clear IAS exam. Minimum requirement for this exam is graduation. B.Sc is a graduation also you will get a good knowledge of a particular subject. Also you can choose same subject in IAS. This will make for you to complete IAS syllabus also you can effectively prepare yourself for exam. |

Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university is the required qualification for IPS exam. Therefore, you can opt for any stream because there is no specialised education required for it.
All you have to do is crack the civil service exam which is conducted by UPSC. Selection will be based on your performance in written exam and interview. You can choose an optional subject according to your interest. |

Re: Which graduation course I need to choose if I wanted to become an IPS?
IPS stands for Indian Police Service and it is one of the highest post in the administrative field which one can achieve.
For becoming an IPS officer one needs to clear Civil Services Examination which is organized by Union Public Service Commission once every year. --> Also for appearing in the same examination you are required to have the qualifications given below :- * You must have the nationality of India. * Your age must lie within 21 years to 32 years if you belong to general category as there is provision of age relaxation in upper age limit of 3 years, 5 years & 10 years for OBC, SC/ST & physically handicapped candidates as per the government norms. * You must have either completed your bachelor's degree or must be in the final year of same with any subject of your choice from a recognized university. --> Also the examination is organized in three phases which are respectively called as Preliminary test, Mains and Personal Interview. Now as for you are concerned about the subject for your graduation course then it is quite clear from eligibility criteria that there is no subject barrier for one's eligibility for the same examination. So you are free to choose your interested course and do not get confused that which subject is easier or harder go for that subject in which you are interested and comfortable because it would be the easiest option rather any other. For more details concerning with the same examination you can log on to the official link of UPSC i.e; www.upsc.gov.in. |

Re: Which graduation course I need to choose if I wanted to become an IPS?
You can choose any subject you like, there is no eligibility criteria based on graduation subject. But going for humanities subjects can be helpful.
You can opt for political science, geography, history, public administration. You can even choose science subjects like maths, biology, chemistry etc. If you are interested in engineering, then you can choose electrical engineering, civil engineering or mechanical. But keep in mind, subjects has less weightage in total marks as compared to GS marks. |
