Is it necessary to take Biology in 11th to appear for medical entrance exam in India?
I have cleared 12th with PCM. Is it necessary to take biology to appear for any medical entrance examination in India?

Yes, biology is compulsory to become eligible for medical entrance exam. This is the reason students opt for physics, chemistry and biology in class 11th because without studying it in class 11th you won't be eligible for admission in class 12th.
Hence, if you have passed class 12th with PCM then you are not eligible for any medical entrance exams. You can apply for engineering entrance exams. |

Yes , definitely you have to take biology in 12th to appear in AIPMT exam and other medical entrance exams.
Eligibility; At least 50% marks and 45% for reserved categories. |

To be eligible to appear in any Medical entrance examination, you must have completed 12th standard with Biology, Physics and Chemistry subjects from a recognised board. Candidates who have completed 12th standard with PCM stream are not eligible to appear in Medical entrance examination. So, it is mandatory to pursue Biology subject along with Physics and Chemistry subjects in your 11th and 12th standard to be eligible to appear in Medical entrance examination.

Yes, it is compulsory to have biology as one of the subject in class 12 examination to appear for medical entrance examination.
To appear for MBBS, one must have completed his/ her class 12 examination with Physics, chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology with atleast 60% marks in aggregate. To appear for any medical entrance examination, one must have studied biology as one of the subject in class 12 examination. |

Yes to be eligible for any medical entrance examination in India such as AIPMT, AIIMS MBBS entrance examination, BHU PMT, State PMT, etc. you are required to have Biology as your main subject in your higher secondary degree course along with Physics and Chemistry from a recognized board of education. Generally, you need to secure at least 60% aggregate in each ( in case of reserved category candidates it is 50% ).
Also you need to be an Indian resident with your age lying within 17 years to 25 years ( age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for reserved category candidates). So having completed your Class 12th with PCM group you are not eligible for appearing in medical entrance examination as PCM group does not includes Biology. Yes, it is compulsory to take Biology as a main subject to appearing in the medical entrance exam in India. As you have cleared your 12th standard with PCM so you are not eligible for appearing in any of the medical entrance exam in India. With 12th PCM you can switch to technical engineering field. For your better future in technical line that you have to crack the JEE entrance exam.

Yes, it is necessary to have Biology as main subject in 10+2 to get admission in medical courses.
So after pursuing 10+2 with PCM ( Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics ) you are not eligible to appear for medical entrance examination to get admission in medical courses. |
