I have scored only 50% in 12Th maths. Am I eligible to write AFCAT?

Sorry, you won't be eligible to apply for the exam as you need to have 60% above with your Educational qualification, the common eligibility criteria for the exam as follows,

-> Candidate age should be between 19 to 23 years as on 01 January 2015, born between 02 January 1992 to 01 January 1996.

-> 60% above in Graduation.

-> Physically fit.

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test.

This exam is conducted for candidates to join in various branches of Indian Air Force. AFCAT offers candidates to join in different branches of Air force such as:

• Ground Duty Branch
• Flying Branch
• Technical Branch

There are criteria's which are needed to be satisfied in order to apply for the exam. Both men and women candidates can apply for AFCAT.

Ground Duty Branch:

# Age limit needed is 20-26 years and this is applicable for both men and women candidates.

# Educational qualification needed is a degree from a recognized university with at least 60% aggregate

Flying Branch:

# Age limit needed is 20-24 years.

# Educational qualification needed is candidate should have completed B.E/B.Tech from a recognized university with at least 60% aggregate.

Technical Branch:

# Age limit needed is 20-26 years of age.

# The educational qualification needed is candidate should have completed Aeronautical engineering from a recognized university with atleast 60% aggregate.


If you satisfy the criteria's for the respected branch, you can apply for AFCAT to join in it.

AFCAT is the Air Force Common Admission test. It is conducted by the Indian Air Force for recruitment of candidates to the different wings like:

~~Flying branch.

~~Ground Duty Branch

~~Technical Duty branch.

For Ground duty branch, any bachelor's degree holder can apply for the AFCAT exam but for technical and flying wings, bachelor's degree in engineering or technology or in science with mathematics and physics at 10+2 level.

The age limit is 19-23 years.

No, you are not eligible for the exam with 10+2 as academic qualification and also you have less than 60% in mathematics.

To apply for the Airforce common admission test exam ,

~ The candidate shouldhave completed Graduation from a Recognised university
~ Age shouldbe in between 19-23 years to join in Flying branch
~ Age shouldbe in between 20-23 years to join in Ground duty branch
~ Age shouldbe in between 18-28 years to join in Technical branch.



So , with your 12th qualification , you are Not Eligible to apply for the AFCAT exam now.
You need to complete your Graduation to apply for the AFCAT exam .
So , go for graduation and complete it from a Recognised university.


Else , you can apply for the NDA exam now to join in Airforce if you have taken Maths , Physics , Chemistry as your main subjects in 12th .
Age shouldbe in between 16.5 to 19 years only to apply for the NDA exam
