I'm a student of class 11th and want to make my career as an IAS officer...please guide me how should i plan for the preparation while doing my studies???and please do tell the books than can prove me helpful at this stage

to become IAS officer you have to appear in the civil service examination. civil service examination is conducted by UPSC. the eligibility criterion to appear in civil service examination is candidates should have minimum of graduation degree in any discipline. the age of the candidates must be in between 21 to 30 for general category candidates. reservation as per rule for the reserved category.

so as you are in 11th now i don't think you have to think about IAS from now. first study attentively and do good result in your 12th board examination. after that take admission in a very good institution in graduation. complete your graduation in a stream which you like the most. if you are studying in science stream then you may go for engineering course.

when you will be in graduation then you may think about civil service examination. then you may start your preparation for civil service examination. in civil service you have to choose two subject for the examination. choose the subject from your stream and those subject you already studied.

in civil service examination there is two written examination and then interview. one is civil service preliminary examination and other is civil service main examination. if you can crack the civil service preliminary examination then you will be eligible for civil service main examination.

visit the UPSC official website http://www.upsc.gov.in for more details about civil service examination. you must be good enough to get chance in civil service examination because so many good students are trying every year to get job in civil services.

You can Plan also this time,Because plans are the sructure of a project which helps you the way to success. Following are some key points for your IAS plan:
1. Select the study area in which u r interested for IAS.
2. Focus on the basic things related to the subjects.
3. Also focus on Apptitude and reasonning ability.
3. Start reading newspaper daily.
4. Increase your General Knowledge about Country.
5. You should know about your country HIstory and Geography regions
6. Knowledge about political System of country.
* Now prepare a weekly shedule for study related to these areas and do it regularly.

It is very appreciable that you want to become an IAS officer and want to try for this at such an early age.

To become an IAS officer you have to appear in the civil service examination conducted by the UPSC.

The examination is conducted every year.

The eligibility criteria to appear in the examination is as follows:-
1)The candidate must be a graduate from a recognized institute.
2)The age of the candidate must be between 21 years to 30 years.

As you are in class 11th so I will suggest you to first complete class 12th and the complete graduation in the subject you like the most and then apply for the civil service examination.

IAS (Indian Administrative Services) is basically for those who are firmly determined for dedication of themselves towards the own country.

If you are so interested for IAS,after being Engineers, Doctors, or Ph.d you can sit IAS exam conducted by UPSC.

Application forms will come out in the month of January.

According to the new exam pattern of the IAS exam

1) General-Studies paper which carries 150 marks

2) Optional paper which carries 150 marks.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS EXAM

You are now in 11th standard so you have long way for IAS exam but it is really good to you have a aim for IAS.

So dear you have to cleared the graduation first.

This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

Optional subjects for IAS main exam:

Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

You can choose the subject in sense of your strength .

IAS Papers : Five Tips On Studying For Exams

Five tips on how to study for tests so you can improve your performance on them:

1. Take frequent short breaks.
It’s been shown that your memory will remember more at the beginning and at the end of your study sessions than it will in the middle of those sections. Therefore, it makes sense to keep your study periods to a short time frame, say 20-30 minutes at most, take a 5-minute break, then come back and study another 20-30 minutes. This way, your mind will be sharper and you’ll be more focused on what you’re studying.

2. Space out your studying so that your long-term memory retains it.
Another reason to not wait until the night before the exam to study is because the information will stay in your long-term memory. If you wait until the night before the exam, the information will only be in your short-term memory, where it is more likely to be forgotten.

3. Don’t try to memorize everything; make sure you understand the material well.
Understanding the material is key to doing well on college exams because often these exams will ask you to demonstrate your understanding of that material by applying it to a situation. Your study material may have presented a sample case for you to help you prepare, but if you didn’t understand the process of how you came to the right answer, chances are, you won’t be able to demonstrate the ability to answer the question on the exam, which will likely lead you to doing poorly on the exam.

4. Listen to relaxing music to ease the boredom of studying.
Listening to relaxing music like classical or jazz can help to relieve some of the boredom of studying. Sitting for extended periods of time, even with short breaks, can cause the mind to dull a bit over time; playing relaxing music can help to revitalize yourself to refocus on the material and study it better.

5. Don’t study later than the time you usually go to sleep.
It is suggested that you don’t stay up past the time you usually go to sleep, as you may be tempted to fall asleep, being that your body is used to going to sleep at a certain time. That is why studying in the afternoon or early evening would be better. If you are a morning person, wake up at your usual time or even a bit earlier and study then, rather than staying up past your bedtime to study.
This is another reason why you shouldn’t wait until the night before the exam to do all of your studying, as you will likely need a few hours to study in order to cover all the material if you haven’t been studying it throughout the course.

If a candidate passed in Preliminary exam and Main exam but if he failed in interview still he will have chance to become ias or he will get other posting
