IPS stands for Indian Police service exam . This exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

If you have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.There is no marks criteria.

Age criteria for IPS Exam=>

For Genral - 21 to 30 years old.
For SC/ST - 21 to 35 years old.
For OBC candidate - 21 to 33 years old.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

The physical standards for the IPS exam is given below-
Height-minimum 165cms for male and minimum 150cms for female

chest-unexpanded minimum 84cm for males
unexpanded minimum 79cm for females
and minimum 5cms expansion

Weight-the weight needed is as per your height.

IPS stands for Indian Police Services. In order to join Indian police Service you have to appear in the civil services exam conducted by Union public service commission once in a year.

UPSC conducts a civil services exam each year for the selection of candidates for the post of IAS/IPS etc. This is one of the toughest and highly respectable entrance exam of India. There are various candidates appear in this exam each year.

Eligibility Criteria:-

>>Nationality:-
You should be a citizen of india

>>Age Limit:-
your age should be in between 21 to 30 years for General Category candidates. For OBC candidate age should be in between 21 to 33 years . For SC/ST candidates age should between 21 to 35 years.

>>Educational Qualification:-
You should have completed the bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university . Final year candidates also eligible for this exam.

>>No. of Attempts:-

FOR GENERAL CATEGORY: 4 Attempts
FOR SC/ST CATEGORY : No limit
FOR OBC CATEGORY : 7 attempts

There are three steps in this exam which you have to clear in order to become an IPS officer. The three stages/exams in this exam are:

1)- Prelims exam
2)- Mains Exam
3)- Personal Interview.

Physical Requirements:-

>>For Male Candidate minimum height should be 165cm and there is some relaxation applicable for reserved category. There is relaxation of 5cm and height should be 160cm.

>>For Female candidate height should be 150cm and relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidate and height should be 145cm.

>>For Male Candidate chest should be 84 cm and expansion 5cm.

>>For Female Candidate Chest should be 79cm and Expansion 5cm.

>>Your Eye sight should be 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for poor eye and you should have 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as a common examination for
recruitment to various services like the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service, as well as Group A and

Eligibility

i. Nationality:
For the Indian Police Service, the candidate must be a citizen of India.

ii. Age:
Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years.The upper age limit will be relaxable by 5 years for Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe candidates, & by 3 years for candidates of OBC.

iii. Qualification:
A graduation degree from any Indian University or other educational institution deemed as a University.The final year degree course students can also apply for and appear in the Aptitude Test.

iv. Number of Attempts:
General- four
OBC- seven attempts
Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe- unlimited.



For IPS you also need to clear certain physical & medical standards as listed below:-

Eye sight –
6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye.
Near vision J1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye.
The correction by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic.

Ear-
good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment should not be more than 30 decibels.

Nasal-
clear and free from any polyps and injury, both nasal passages should be clear.

Speech-
The candidate should not stammer while speaking.

Height –
Male 165 cm Male (general) & (SC/ ST/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm Female (general) & (SC/ ST/ OBC)- 145 cm

Chest –
Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

Blood pressure (High) - 123– 127.

Ladies should not be pregnant at the time of Medical Test.

The physical standards are a rigorous training at the NPA, which includes weekly run for 10 k.m. in 60 minutes, route march for 25 k.m. UAC, Horse riding, rock climbing, assault course, PT obstacles, rope climbing etc.

You should schedule your time table for the preparation and strictly follow it.

You should specially concentrate to GS section it is very broad part and has no limit.
