Information About UPSC Civil services examination -

IPS Stands for Indian Police Service and to become IPS Officer you have to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination, This examination was conducted by UPSC Comission every year in two stages, Preliminary examination and Main examination.

Preliminary examination was also called CSAT Examination and firstly you have to cracked the preliminary examination, Only then You are eligible to apply for Main examination, Preliminary examination was Objective and There are 2 Papers in this examination.

Main examination was descriptive and You have to choose the Subjects as per your Graduation.

To apply for This examination, you need to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised university.

Final year Graduate candidates are also apply for CSAT Examination.

Your age should between 21 to 30 years, Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

There is No minimum percentage is required to apply for CSAT Examination because any graduate passed candidates may apply for CSAT Examination.

So, If you have completed your Graduate degree course, then please apply for this examination next year, The schedule for Next year examination was already updated in the UPSC website. The Notification was Going to be Published on 04/Feb/2012.

The last date of apply for this examination was 05/March/2012.

Examination date (Preliminary) - 20/May/2012.

To be eligible for the civil services exams:

You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age (various relaxations are available for different categories).
You must possess a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
Candidates who are in the final semester or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for the IAS and IPS Preliminary examination provided they furnish their proof of degree while filling the Mains form.

This civil service exam is conducted by UPSC(UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION FOR IPS EXAM

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.

PROCESS BECOME A IPS OFFICER:-

1. Fill up the Application form.

2.Preliminary exam is consist of two papers.

a) General studies -----150 marks

b)From Optional subject -------300 marks

3.If you have qualify in Preliminary exam then you have to go for IPS mains exam.

4.After completion of your main exam you have to go for Interview.

to qualify for IPS(indian police service) you should have a minimum degree qualification from a certified university....and you should attempt GROUP & UPSC exams where your personal and general abilities are tested...better you get grip in general knowledge so that you can crack the exam easily......ALL THE BEST

Indian Public Service exam is held once in year, this exam is part of Civil service exam and exam is conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:
Candidate should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university.
Age should be between 21 to 30 years for General category candidates,21to 33 year for OBC category candidates,21 to 35 years for SC/ST category candidates

Number of attempts:
4 attempts for General category candidates.
7 attempts for Obc category candidates
Unlimited attempts for SC/ST category candidates.

Important dates for IPS-2012 exam:
Indian Public Service(Preliminary exam) Notification for this year: Issue of application form from 4th Feb 2012 to 5th March 2012. Exam will held on 20th May 2012.
Indian Public Service (Main Exam) notification for this year:
Exam will held on 15th Oct 2012.

Dear aspirant,
You should be a graduate at first.

Then comes your age limit:
21 to 30

and age relaxation as per government norms.

It never gives importance any specific degree.
It is your choice whatever degree you are willing to study just proceed with that and while applying for the exam you can just think of the subjects that were in your studies or you feel comfortable.

UPSC exam includes the optional papers from all types of undergraduate courses.
So, optional paper selection is in your hand.

The selection of best books will play a great role in deciding your rank.
If you have a good collection of books then your preparation will be better.
At the same time your hard work to finish the syllabus of optional subjects will play a great role in deciding your rank in the mains.
